Today's post is short and to the point. We had an opportunity on Friday, but while we won we didn't quite make it across the line due to results around us. These are monumental times and barring a crazy turn around in forture we have already crossed the line. I present you with the table.

The top two teams get promoted and the next four go into the playoffs. There are only six games left for most after Friday's results the only teams that can spoil the party for Lincoln is Bolton and Stockport, the latter of which has an extra game to play when compared to the teams around them.. Cardiff can also obviously still challenge to be league champions (as can Bolton Stockport technically). However, given Lincoln's superior position the likelihood of this is very low.
For Lincoln to fail to be promoted.
- Lincoln must lose all remaining games of the season.
- Bolton / Stockport must win all of their games. This is impossible for them both as they need to play each other. A draw will knock them both out of the race for the top two.
- For Bolton there has to be a net swing of 24 goals in their favour.
- For Stockport there has to be a net swing of 32 goals in their favour
We are not quite saying we are there yet but given the above criteria, it is hard to see Lincoln not getting promoted. You are probably more likely to get eaten by a shark without going into the water (Sharknado anybody lol).
Who ends up being the eventual champions however is a different matter. As previously mentioned Stockport / Bolton have to win every game and Lincoln must lose every game and while Cardiff can still be overhauled they are closer to the two chasing teams than they are Lincoln. Cardiff for their part can achieve a maximum of 98 points with them winning every game. This means Lincoln only need another 11 points from their remaining six games (18 available) and then what the others do is irrelevant.
Lincoln tbh are as good as up, it is just a matter of settling the championship, This means Lincoln will be playing second tier football for the first time since the 1960-61 season.
As always stay safe and well my friends.
