Can Crypto-Data be Parsed into a Spreadsheet?

Can Crypto-Data be Parsed into a Spreadsheet?

There are times in our lives that are particularly challenging and this is one of those seasons. While I cannot go into details, just take my word for it. What it does mean is that - to keep my streak going - I have to be short and to the point and this is likely to continue for the next week or so. Alternatively I will have to let go of my posting streak - which is a very realistic possibility.

Ironically, I actually had some downtime yesterday and so I set myself a low-stress task.

I don't know if it is just me, but to track things I run my crypto through a self designed spreadsheet (Excel) and they always start nicely, but then as I add more tokens or things grow I find that all of those little amendments and changes result in chaos. So, once in a while, while maintain the best elements (sometimes I literally Copy and Paste) I like to go back to basics and start with a blank workbook that reflects both improvement and my current data requirements.

So, I am now on "Crypto_6.0.xls"

I was just thinking this morning of a way to improve it now that it is nice and clean and uncluttered again. And I thought to myself what could be good would be if I could somehow directly download / link prices so they drop into the right boxes on my spreadsheet from CoinMarketCap, CoinGecko or even Co(i)nbase. At present, and in all previous iterations, I have been updating crypto prices manually and frankly it is tedious.

I think the word I am looking for is parse. I came across this many, many years ago when I used to play Travian. There was a way to share my data with my allies (and vice-versa) and I do remember this word coming up.

Only for now I have no idea how to do this. So, it might be worth a post (fancy it PVM, LiaRio?) or maybe I could try to figure it out on my own and duly share it with the community.

On the bright side, if I do make a mess of it, the way I do it will only mess up one cell (as I will do it asset by asset) and if I get it all arse-about-face then I can just delete the data in the cell so that it is ready to receive a direct manual update - as is the current situation.

As always stay safe and well my friends.
