Once again I am finding myself writing an unexpected article.
In my last article I wrote about how the Chinese state plan to introduce their own crypto (DCEP) tied closely to their yuan with an eventual target of challenging the USD by offering both a fiat and crypto that day to day applications have already been envisaged for. There are some concerns with China being a totalitarian state. I wrote this article based upon a random stumble when I was browsing the news on the BBC website.
Today my motivation is entirely different.
From the beginning I learnt that crypto can be acquired for free and one of the best means of doing this is to switch browsing habits to Brave to acquire BATs. Well I did this three months ago and still have not even earned the beginning of a BAT, despite checking, rechecking and checking again my settings, which I am absolutely sure are correct. Over the last three months I have also used it for my general browsing so by now its machine coding should have learned my search habits enough to select targeted ads for me to browse – and still nothing.
I know a lot of people have a great deal of success with BRAVE. The other thing is that BRAVE is tied to Uphold Wallet and from what I have seen it too is a pain the ****. so while I will contain to use BRAVE, in the hope that one of these days my BAT rewards will kick in, I have been looking at other alternatives. Faucets are painfully slow although I do them daily and am beginning to get large numbers of coins – which actually still only add up to the value of a couple of dollars – the fact is that it is probably costing me more in keeping my phone charged. To date I have found no place better than Publish0x – especially if you are a blogger like me.
So today as I was researching free crypto I came across Presearch, whose aim is to build the next level search engine and is community driven (taken from their about page). They support their own token (PRE) and by simply installing an extension onto the browser you are rewarded 0.25 PRE per search. Ok it is not Google, but it is good enough to find whatever I have needed today.

I am using it on BRAVE so maybe one day when BRAVE becomes more using friendly in terms of receiving BATs I may even be double rewarded.
Furthermore it offers more incentives and rewards for using their platforms and while I am still checking these out I am not in a position to comment one way or the other. As I become more familiar I will share my knowledge with the community as usual.
My initial thoughts are that it is very good, it is easy to create an account, install and you don’t even have to watch adverts or prime the pump by making any kind of a payment such as that demanded by other earning platforms (for example MINDS). I have only just started this journey, but I am encouraged by what I have seen so far.
In fact the only limit seems to be a bit of a lack of things to do with earned PRE. I have done some tentative research and I know there are wallets / exchanges that will take it but it means creating yet another account. You never know I might get lucky and just as in the case of Loopring a couple of weeks ago and Coinbase will take it on – although I can’t see that happening any time soon.
I therefore encourage any and all readers to create an account and download the extension. Your browser bar serves as the search engine so you don’t even need to mess about with changing home pages or anything like that. To repeat myself it’s not Google, but it’s more than adequate and as an additional bonus it’s not spying on you – so in balance it is a serious consideration.
Even if PRE goes nowhere give it a go, collect the crypto and see what happens. It will have minimal influence on your browsing habits and, although I haven’t tried it (yet) it will probably even reward you for typing ‘Google’ in the browser bar. I will post more as my journey with Presearch continues.

Once again to conclude it’s much easier than BRAVE to utilise, and I know I am not the only one who has experienced problems with getting ads up and running (just search online). Additionally there is no need to watch adverts and earning PRE just goes hand in hand with your regular browsing routines. The one possible downside is utilisation of PRE one earned. From everything I have seen online though it is firmly in second place and only losing out to Publish0x if blogging. As a non-blogger it is probably actually better because from what I have seen Presearch’s daily limit for browser rewards is 8 PRE (remember each search generates 0.25 PRE so that is 32 searches), which currently equates to $0.10. Not bad for such minimal interference, few of us make 32 searches a day, so just go with it and make up some searches too if you prefer.
