When I arrived home on Tuesday I came bearing presents and I just love the way the children have enjoyed the presents - with just one small hiccup.

Starting with Older_Rah (simply because he is older) he is increasingly falling in love with Lego and loves all things Spidey and Team as well as the ubiquitous Paw Patrol). Several months ago for his birthday he got his first ever true Lego set (not counting Duplo); It was Spidey on his bike alongside Rhino, who can shoot pizzas from a special oven. Understandably, due to lack of experience, he needed a lot of help in completing his first set. I brought him back another set from the Spidey series this time. It was a more complex set including Spin (the black costumed Spidey) on a quad, Electro on a bike (similar in principle to the aforementioned one Spidey has) and a small construction.

What was particularly great was how he has grown in the last few months. Snapping bricks together and coming up with his own build ideas has definitely helped because when it came to this one he followed the instructions and built it himself. I only had to pop the wheels into the tyres as they were a bit stiff for him. 

Build done - he was delighted and is enjoying playing with it as a toy, which he has added to his growing collection.

Now, when it comes to Younger_Rah for some time he has be obsessed with Thomas (the Tank Engine) and Friends and Gordon in particular. For those of you who are not in the know, he is the big blue one who frankly is quite snooty. He might well be the least pleasant of all of the engines, but Younger_Rah likes what he likes and that is all that matters.

So for him I brought back a Gordon toy complete with its coal wagon and to begin with he really enjoyed it and was pushing it around. However, unfortunately a hiccup was on the way and what upset him was the absence of Thomas as I had only bought one train for him. He took a bit of calming down - mainly by Mama_Rah - and a part of me questioned the choice I had made, despite his initial delight. The best solution would be to add a Thomas or so it seemed.

He, however, on his own decided that the best thing was for him to relabel the coal truck as Thomas and that seems to work. Then yesterday I put the batteries in for the first time (I had waited because he was enjoying it as it was) and then it was driving itself. He was delighted. In fact the only challenge now is that Older_Rah also likes it and wants to play with it too. I am sure this is very much a sibling things.

So to conclude, the joy on both boys faces makes everything so worthwhile and that is what matters.
