Getting into Blockchain/Decentralization

By rabbitt | The rabbitt Hole | Unpublished

I want to create a first post that is an introduction of sorts. Before we move along, my thoughts are random and I love to use brackets (its like a side thought, I am bad for it when not doing a "professional" post, this is that.)

I am a Web Developer and have been interested in Blockchain for the last 3 years, so I am no "expert" or anything and anything I may say should never be taken as "actual advice" (this is not financial advice as they say).

I remember hearing about Bitcoin back in 2012 when it had a bit of a public boom and only the weirdos and those shopping on the "dark web" (mainly) were using this. (This gave it the whole bad image, if you are unaware look into Silk Road (there is a movie even.. I have yet to watch it myself)).
At the time a friend of mine was buying this "Bitcoin" around $15. I thought it was a neat concept, and I left it at that.. If I would have even just GOOGLED "BITCOIN" I bet I would have been mining it the next day ... (His brother also sold $1K worth at the time, big oof)

At the time I was so focused on .. (I think it was a girl, my "first love") .. The butterfly effect would have been crazy on this one.

Moving along though I was randomly looking for Streaming websites because I enjoyed streaming and liked to "multi-stream" because it was a great way to connect with many at once (because on Twitch being a small fish, varying by game can be hard to even get 1 "active chatter"). Yeah you can get "views", but to have at least one person to talk to and connect with over some common ground (clearly they ventured into the stream to begin with).
I came across Sliver.tv which later rebranded to Theta.tv and is the face of the Streaming service which lives on the Theta Network.

Now I can go into the streaming site itself and depending on when you or if you have come across it you may not see Theta for what it is (if I do not write a blog about it, basically Theta.tv did some "testing" and also had its flood of toxicity and everyone trying to "cash in" while being a featured streamer and basically pumping the service itself (in a bad way).. for another time)

Now I am not trying to put anything negative on it at all, hell when I first found this Network and seen it on Testnet (and it had its ERC-20 token) it was by accident. I was primarily looking for a streaming service, but once I realized what was going on within Sliver I started to pay attention. (And yeah I got my hands on the ERC token before the swap, I have a whole story about losing more than I bought on that one, we can have a Theta post cause thats what this is becoming). I will leave it at this with Theta, I read the Whitepaper and my eyes were opened.

I soon went and found the Bitcoin whitepaper among ETH and a few others, with some yellow and blue papers. My rabbit hole began and my love for building things (in a technological sense, web apps) started to spark ideas. I am still thinking of things constantly and wish I could fire the ideas off to someone to ignite it, but I know some of the ideas are nonsense. Sometimes though the nonsense mixed with sense can create something better, yeah that made no sense, but the sense is there.

At this point my brain is scrambling to understand how one can pull something out of nothing, but then it begins to click more and more and I became a true believer of the tech. Crypto and Blockchain fused, I knew it was time to get into it. I started to think of how I could make my own "token" as well, but wasn't looking to cash in on the Crypto Kitty hype by making something because. (What I mean is I wanted to plan it out) and as I started to look more into where to build, etc, I kind of wanted to avoid Ethereum. Mainly because I could already see gas fee's and network congestion becoming an issue. Now you have high gas fee's and people saying "oh you cant afford the gas LOL" .. Yeah real helpful cause I want to pay $30 in gas right now for my small transaction. Way to be consumer friendly and scale.. (I know research shows ETH2.0 should have been here and gas prices (network difficulty) is harder, hence the EIP-..)
Anyways I can write about ETH as well (its own post...) and my views on it and what I think is going to happen.

I am not biased (yet) and I actually disliked Binance years ago, but now with their Smart Chain and 25 cent gas fee's and the Swap, it makes it feel nice again. Oh you want to pick up $10 of something, cool heres your 25 cent fee. Its just with things like Pancake swap in the mix, it makes it easy to grab something (be careful of everyone + their dog making a token and all the scams appearing..)

At this point I am scared to "shill" any of the new tokens I believe in early on because of this. Yeah I may believe in a project and it shows great potential, but everything is a risk.

Yeah I side-ventured with that, seems about right. After planning out an APP and diving into a big part I realized I didn't plan it broad enough and started somewhere unneeded. I wanted to integrate a main component and started setting up "business logic" and tried getting access to an SDK. After months of back and forth with Microsoft was unable to resolve my issue and it left me salty. Meanwhile there was a design being made and we decided the plan was too broad. I began breaking it down more and realized I can make a "network" of things and have "NFT"s between apps. Now with the NFT boom I am waiting to see what my "primary" focus will be for tech (what Blockchain(s) to build on).

I am not looking to re-invent the wheel (although I have been looking at a dead coin and how I could utilize what is there as a foundation, its more of a help to get me into Blockchain)

I want to use a Blockchain that is provably secure and going to scale properly, we have to see this as a unification and not a jumble of blockchains creating friction. If you look at certain projects you can see they try to make it easy to swap between networks so you end up with Wrapped tokens (or perhaps a platform like THORChain)

I am about to go eat and get the kids ready for bed, etc, I will edit this part later to conclude something. ( I wanted to get this out before I posted anything else on here)
