The term "metaverse" has become synonymous with a dystopian neopunk future where everyone plugs computers directly into their brains to enter a simulated digital fantasy world.
Science fiction and tech companies have created this false narrative of what the metaverse will become, but to be honest you have probably entered the metaverse several times today already.
The metaverse quite simply put, is any social interaction done via technology. Your zoom meeting, conference call, online hangout, video chat are all examples of how everyday you interact in the metaverse.
So whats the big deal then? Well the possibilities of what can be done and monetized in the metaverse is truly infinite. If you can dream it, you can experience it.
Zoom calls will be done in virtual offices, maybe on a beach or mountain, and everyone in the meeting will be represented by an avatar.
E-sports events will take place in virtual stadiums where the competitions are live streamed. Viewers will get to enter the metaverse stadium and watch the stream together with their friends like a real sporting event.
Vendors will set up booths to sell digital and physical assets, goods and services available for purchase and shipping.

Educators will hold seminars and symposiums in virtual lecture halls where students can enter the metaverse and learn with their peers.
There is not one sole metaverse either. There will be many different daaps that allow access to different metaverse experiences. All these daaps will be accessible through your phone, laptop, computer, gaming console or any smart technology.
Understanding the metaverse and what can be done is the first steps of acceptance by anyone taking the journey into blockchain technology, web3 and NFTs. Everything is connected and we will all be connected in the metaverse.
