Worlds First Vertiport opens in UK
The future is developed and accepted, not the other way around. The media is all caught up in the failing old systems and some would say trying to perpetuate the old systems, all the while vibrant new methods and systems are being developed and deployed.
Take for example late last month in the UK an 'electric vertical takeoff' and landing (eVTOL) Vertiport opened up. Ushering in a new age of short-range transportation. eVTOL initial use cases are for local 'Air Taxi's' and unmanned Cargo Drones, assume more uses cases will be developed rather quickly. For example, aid police in a chase or crime.
How fast do Urban Air Vehicles travel? about 63MPH between Vertiports - taking all the traffic lights out you couldn't travel this fast.

Where can you find this eVTOL Vertiport? Coventry, England. I should point out that it was partially funded by the British Government
What does the Vertiport contain? As one would expect of any modern transportation hub it is divided into fully outfitted “zones.” Which include a passenger lounge, café, retail pop-up, cargo logistics hub, electric and hydrogen air vehicle hangar, security screening, command and control center.
Aerial views provided by Urban Air Port (AKA UAP) - can see the different 'zones'

How much room does an eVTOL require to takeoff and land? currently a 56-foot circular final approach and takeoff (FATO) platform raises 19 feet in the sky using a compact synchronized link-lift system to enable future electric air vehicle takeoffs and landings.

Summary, the future is wide-open full of exciting opportunities for all to benefit from and explore. Who is willing to take a ride in the eVTOL this year?
