MIT importance to US Quantum Computing efforts
MIT has announced several large advancements in regard to US Quantum Computing efforts already this month.
1) Demonstrated using superconducting quantum bits connected to a microwave transmission line have shown how the qubits can generate on demand the photons, or particles of light, necessary for communication between quantum processors. - WOW on-demand Photons these can be leveraged to remove all the legacy chip wiring (not right away but a huge win the end advancing the Quantum Computing efforts.
2) MIT partnered with Co-design Center for Quantum Advantage (AKA (C2QA)) and Quantum Systems Accelerator (QSA). These departments are funded by the US Department of Energy (AKA DOE).
3) Last but not least MIT revealed that Cosmic Rays might hinder Quantum Computing - requiring these high end computers to be placed in bunkers underground to protect them from weak radiation. https://news.mit.edu/2020/cosmic-rays-limit-quantum-computing-0826
I have to assume that will limit adoption until that obstacle is overcome!
MIT is crucial to leading the US in Quantum Computing!
Enjoy the Journey!
