German HPC Center Is The First Buyer For New D-Wave Quantum Computer
Jülich Supercomputing Centre at Forschungszentrum Jülich (JSC)
which is located between the cities of Aachen, Cologne, and Düsseldorf. Purchased the first D-Wave Quantum computer, this system is a 5000 qubit system from D-Wave for its annealing technology.
Why
As a hosting facility they granted customers access to their cloud quantum offering, by directly purchasing this D-Wave system they are unlocking all features which customers can then tune as their research warrants.
When
The JSC expects to receive their D-Wave computer this year and have plans for it to be put to use quickly.
In Other Quantum news Japan deployed the worlds first Hybrid Quantum computer
Quantinuum's "Reimei" quantum computer installed at RIKEN's world-class facility in Japan. This is part of an ambitious project commissioned by their New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), as well as the trade and industry associations.
