Facebook's new cryptocurrency, named after Libra, faces a lot of concern, not only by economists but also by politicians

US President Donald Trump, in a series of Twitter tweets over the weekend, has expressed his dislike for digital currencies, particularly Bitcoin, saying that they are not currencies in the true sense of the matter, stressing that they are very volatile, and singled out the new cryptocurrency of Facebook Libra, where Trump accused Facebook that it wants to become a bank without respecting the rules of US and international banks via cryptocurrencies, and called in this case to abide by these rules, and stressed that the only official currency in America is the dollar.

Donald Trump's remarks came after similar reservations by the EU and China, recently joined by the state of Japan, according to the International News Agency reported that Japan has opened an investigation and in-depth research on the new Facebook's currency Libra, through an establishment of a dedicated team To study the implications and effects of this currency on global markets and economies.

Reuters reported that Japan will brief its research on the new Facebook currency to major countries on the sidelines of the Group of Seven finance ministers meeting in Biarritz the southernmost town of France this week.
