The Bodleian Library recently turned 422 years old (!), Oxford itself is almost a thousand years old (928 years).
Surprisingly, Oxford and Cambridge are not just a "brand", it is really very difficult to get here, there are really a lot of talented specialists in very narrow topics, universities keep a high bar.

But what is most amazing here is the cultivation of freedom of creative and intellectual expression.
The university constantly hosts debates on a variety of topics, where the parties exchange arguments, and it all takes place in the hall with other students.

Oxford

In the New Year 2025, I wish you to believe in yourself, not to be afraid of anything, to do something that you have long wanted to do, but were afraid to learn new things.
In general, there is a great English word - "courage", and it is my favorite.
"Courage" means: "the ability to do things that frighten, courage," "strength in the face of pain or grief," "the ability to overcome bad circumstances and take risks."
I wish everyone to develop their courage and be brave.

Notes from Oxford

I've been thoroughly hooked on books and materials on evolutionary biology and psychology, ethology, and neurophysiology, and I don't know how to stop.
Dawkins, Sapolsky, Lorenz, Chopra, Harari, Pinker, Peterson... I listen to lectures by Dubynin (I went to his special course at the Moscow State University Faculty of Biology) and Drobyshevsky.
To be honest, I haven't read fiction for 5 years (but I don't feel like it either), only popular science: biology, genetics, neurology, all kinds of naturalistic topics…

All this intellectual vinaigrette in my head is also accompanied by reading historical blogs about comparing the crisis of the Roman Republic and the transition to empire and the United States now, the Civil War in the States, as well as books about feminism.

Something like that…
