It may seem that those who do not follow politics live more quietly. Less news means you know less, have less anxiety, and sleep better. But there is one caveat.
Politics is not just about debates on TV. These are political decisions that directly affect life, prices, work, borders, taxes, and freedom of movement. And if a person is not at all interested in this and does not follow what is happening, his life really becomes "full of surprises." But these surprises are not pleasant at all.
When sudden changes occur, an informed person at least has an understanding of the causes and possible consequences. At least he's mentally preparing for the future. And those who have lived outside politics, out of context, face an incomprehensible and frightening world immediately, without warning. He doesn't have cause-and-effect relationships. They sincerely do not understand why prices and taxes have suddenly increased, why the Internet and familiar Internet services are disappearing, why light and heat have disappeared somewhere... although a person outside politics may not even know about the latter.
It's even worse when a person starts coming up with reasons that have nothing to do with reality.
Nevertheless, constant immersion in the news can also be exhausting. Therefore, it is important to keep a balance: to know the main thing, filter out the superfluous and remember about your zone of influence.
Calmness is not a lack of information. This is an understanding of what is happening and a willingness to move on, no matter what. It's important to save yourself.
