I don't like zoos, but by a happy coincidence, I once visited a zoo in Thailand and it amazed me. All animals there, with the exception of those especially dangerous to humans, walk freely and you can feed them from your hands. That's how we fed flamingos, elephants, rhinoceroses, giraffes, lionesses, sloths, and more.

The San Diego zoo is not exactly like that, the animals were often not visible (for a visitor, this is a minus, but the zoo itself is like a jungle. I understand that we don't always see animals, but animals are comfortable... The ticket price includes 1 bus tour, 1 aerial tram ride and 1 kangaroo tour and a full day at the zoo. And the ticket costs, don't faint, $70 per person. I understand that such a price is a contribution to the decent maintenance of animals and the payment of workers.

I know many people like me don't like zoos, but they have useful functions if they are properly built and the conditions of animal husbandry are respected. Firstly, it is the study of animal life and, accordingly, it helps people to preserve their populations. Secondly, many animals were found dying and released, thirdly, there are endangered species that are protected in this way and are helped not to disappear, and fourthly, the educational function, through the zoo, people get to know the world of fauna, through this children are taught to love animals and nature, to protect them.

It always surprises and pleases me here that everywhere in such places, there are a lot of very elderly people who look at and are interested in life with interest. They wear shorts, do not require special treatment, they are friendly and happy. There are many people with disabilities, in special wheelchairs, all living a full and interesting life.

And I took the opportunity (and we drove to San Diego for almost 3 hours by car) that we were in San Diego, I couldn't help but go to one of the picturesque places - La Jolla. This is a stunningly beautiful place on the Pacific coast. I've been filming a lot, and more on that in the post. This place demonstrates the nature of California well...

There is a Wild Animal Park. Animals are not in cages there, but walk freely. And then there's the San Diego Zoo, which is located next to Balboa Park, not far from downtown.

When I was in San Diego, I couldn't help but use this time to visit some other location besides the zoo, and the choice fell on La Jolla. And I did not regret my choice, this is one of the most beautiful places in California.

I'm surprised here how people manage to live next to animals while maintaining balance. The uniqueness of California is that the Pacific Ocean coastline runs throughout the state. There are many beaches and scenic spots. The most beautiful highway passes here, this is the Pacific Highway, it runs along the ocean coast. The climate here is called Mediterranean, the cold California current runs near the coast, which significantly reduces the temperature gradient, and even in the hottest summer you feel a cool breeze and the nights are cool, so the heat in summer is not exhausting. Winter, like St. Petersburg summer, has rains and +15-23°.

Going to the ocean, you can see sea lions, pelicans, many seabirds and various animals.
