Metal Ship - a unique event for Russia, held in St. Petersburg since 2010... Its main essence is that metalheads can take a break from stuffy clubs and enjoy hanging out with like-minded people in the open air, which everyone needs in summer... Moreover, the main attributes of a club lives are also saved - these are drinks (which, by the way, you can bring with you) and the right music sounding from the speakers ... Plus, you can also fry kebabs on day swims (bring meat with you too) ...
The main milestones in the history of the metal ship:
08/21/2010 - the first swim took place...
05/12/2016 - the first sold-out 2 weeks before the event...
05/28/2017 - for the first time the event was held on a large double-deck ship, where 5 live bands of various metal genres performed...
06/15/2018 - the first night swim took place...
Over the years of its existence, the metal ship has become an event not only of a local, but also of an international scale... The visitors of this event were both neighbors from other cities of Russia and guests from different countries, such as Finland, Austria, England, Holland...
Also, the stars of the national metal scene, members of such bands as Stalwart, Izmoroz, Troll Gnet Yel, Tiran, etc. were repeatedly seen on board ... And on the big ship with live music, in addition to St. Petersburg bands, groups from Moscow and Holland performed ... A special sentry The swim was organized on September 8, 2017 as a pre-party before the Benighted concert, where, in addition to the French themselves, there were musicians from the Novgorod band The Rigor Mortis...

History of the Metal Ship
The first step towards this idea was taken in 2004… My friends and I came to the Crimea for the MetalHeads' Mission festival… Most of the time we hung out in Evpatoria, because it is the nearest civilized settlement in the vicinity of the festival… There was even an Internet club, thanks to which there was an opportunity to communicate with the rest of the world and its environs ... But the fest lasted only 2 days, and we arrived for 2 weeks, in order not only to get hooked on the right music, but also to relax, swim, and cultivate on excursions around this picturesque peninsula ... Of course, and it was impossible to forget about the Massandra cellars ... In general, the cultural and entertainment program was quite rich ...
And once again, walking along the Evpatoria embankment, the idea was born to ride along the Black Sea on a sailing yacht ... The cost of renting such a vessel turned out to be quite acceptable, especially considering that there were six of us, and each had to make an insignificant contribution ... We stocked up on meat, chose a yacht and hit the road ... I had an extremely rare gadget for those times - portable acoustics ... If it sounded quite good in a compartment on a train, then it was heard so-so in the open sea ... And yet it was an extremely emotional walk … And most importantly, there were all the main attributes characteristic of the current metal ship, which annually surfs the water expanses of St. Petersburg - a good company, barbecue, drinks and the right music…
But the idea of stirring up something similar in my hometown at that time had not yet visited my drunken head ... And even when a year later we repeated this trip in the same vicinity of Evpatoria, the desire to ride like this in St. Petersburg had not yet arisen ... There was only a tradition to stir up these rides in Crimea ... So later we rode under Balaklava, but already on a more spacious boat ... It already had standard car acoustics and a car radio installed, thanks to which our muzlo sounded an order of magnitude louder than on a yacht ... And only in 2009, when I didn’t was able to break out to the south, the idea to continue a good tradition in his native land was finally born ...
At first, I wanted to confine myself to a small boat accommodating no more than 10 people ... But the cost of renting in St. Petersburg turned out to be much higher than in Crimea ... It turned out to be quite expensive for one person ... And I switched my attention to more spacious motor ships ... The cost of renting such a vessel did not greatly exceed the cost of renting a small boats, but the passenger capacity was significantly higher ... That is, it turned out that if you recruit 25 people, then there would not be too much money from the nose ... And in 2010, I finally embodied this idea in my native St. Petersburg ... As a result, there were enough people, and everything went great...
The following year, we repeated the walk, and the event began to become traditional ... Already after the first metal boat, I had a dream to stir up such a walk with live music ... But for this you need a large two-deck, because there is not enough space for equipment on a small river boat ... ships are much more expensive, and therefore much more visitors are needed ... So every time I tried to figure out how many people can come to such an event, its payback seemed extremely unlikely to me ... And only in 2016, when metal the swim was sold out, and not even everyone who wanted to had time to snatch tickets, I realized that it was time to take a chance ...
And in 2017 it finally happened… The metal ship with live music was great… Of course, not without jambs, but still it was cool… And the mistakes will be taken into account for the future… And as you can already see, the ship with live music has not canceled the good old a metal boat along rivers and canals… We continue to ride on a small one-deck boat, eat shish kebabs and listen to the right music…

Since 2018, another new format of rides has appeared - night rides ... But not for the whole night, because our nights, although white, are still quite long ... In addition, renting boats at night is more expensive, and due to the bridges and the area where to ride, cut in half ... Therefore, the alignment turns out to be this - the walk continues from midnight to 2:00, we look at the bridges and then some go home, and some at the after-party in the RockStar cafe ...
The latest innovation at the moment is a three-hour VIP swim along an exclusive route for a small company ... This option has its indisputable advantages, such as an unusual route that not only tourists are not taken along, but even locals find it extremely interesting, as well as the small dimensions of the vessel , because of which a small group of friends can feel very comfortable on board ... Alas, there are also disadvantages ... And first of all, this is the cost of the trip, which is somewhat higher than other options due to the reduced passenger capacity ...
