Some people work for the future, and after this publication you will become the person the prospect works for. Let's go!
There are different perspectives and today we will talk about linear.
Linear perspective is a geometric technique involving a systematic reduction in the size of more distant objects and the gaps between them.
In simple words, parallel lines that never intersect narrow as they move away from us and tend to converge at one point.
Thanks to linear perspective, we can convey the amount of space in the image. And show the depth of space, the remoteness of objects.
How can we use perspective in portraits to make them better?
I'll show you an example of a portrait of the bride in the park, which I shot on Redmi Note 5.
What is the object here? Bride. We need to make it the center of the composition. So that the viewer's gaze is involuntarily attracted to the main object.
1- We place the bride in the center of the frame.
2- We take into account the rule of thirds (the principle of composition construction based on the simplified rule of the golden ratio) and place the eyes close to the upper line.
3- We put the bride on the background of the lawn - and the lines of the edges of the lawn and paths converge to the top of the frame. By placing the eyes close to the point of convergence of these lines, we bring the viewer's gaze directly to the face. This is exactly what the use of linear perspective is.
Thanks to these lines, we convey the volume of space and focuses attention on the main subject of shooting.
If we had placed the bride not in the center of the lawn, the portrait would have looked much worse.
So remember this example and apply it when shooting portraits!
There are a few more things in this snapshot that highlight the main object, but more on that in other publications. Good shots to all.
