GAZ cars were sold in the United States twenty years ago. They were noticed by the press in Texas. As The Drive reports, there was one showroom there at the time, which housed exactly six cars - a couple of Gazelles, a couple of Sobols and a couple of Volgas. Interestingly, one of the Volgas was a promising model 3111, which is now highly valued by domestic collectors.
True, the cars were not sold to Americans - they did not have certification. It was assumed that distributors from Mexico and South America would purchase cars through this center. Interestingly, the project was led by a certain Holt Hickman. His name hardly means anything, however, his company SCS/Frigette, for a long time, was a supplier of air conditioners for GAZ and Lada cars. So here's a fact to help you dispel boredom...
