Trap Bait

Be careful of AVG upgrade offer

By prezmo | prezmo | 16 Aug 2020

Tell you the truth, I never thought I would write another AVG post so soon.  Just I finished re-installation of my AVG Internet Security, I received AVG Technologies - Subscription Renewal Reminder email as follows.

----------AVG email reminder------------

------------end of email message----------

Man, IMHO, that was expensive, and I know if I play my card right I could get more better deal than $89.99 plus TAX.
Beside Fry's Electronic and Staples has more good deal than this reminder email.

From Staples AD August 9~August 15, 2020

Staples AD August 9~15th, 2020

and Fry's Electronics AD of AVG products

Fry's Electronic AVG prices

Clearly AVG's $89.99 email extended reminder is over priced.   I also noticed many current AVG customers are upset about this high price offer, and no VIP treatment for long time royal AVG customers.   At the time I thought just buy from store, not from their website, but soon I was tricked by AVG.

Instead of renewal, AVG sent me an invitaion email to upgrade my AVG Internet Security to ULTIMATE.   Timing was right, Price was right, how can I say no to this offer, and my AVG Internet Security gona expire next month, September anyway.

So thinking I could upgrade to ULTIMATE with this excellent deal, I agreed to upgrade my INTERNET SECURITY to ULTIMATE.
Next day, I received an email from AVG claiming my ULTIMATE  version will expire next month September, but I have to do nothing they'll charge my account for $119.99 plus TAX automatically.

New email from AVG

No way, I just purchased this upgrade yesterday, 8/14/20 and it is expire next month 9/26/20!  This must be some mistake!  My AVG Internet Security version will expire next month, but not the upgraded ULTIMATE.  How this could be? I contacted AVG and received this reply today.

------email received 8/14/2020 Friday--------------

Hello,

Thank you for writing back to us.

Upon checking your order, we see that you have just upgraded your existing product to AVG Ultimate. It is not a renewal for the subscription. The charge has been charged only for product charge. You will be charged for AVG Ultimate renewal at the end of the expiry date as mentioned in email.

Regarding color in the dock is related with your Mac graphics. It is nothing to do with AVG settings. If it is greyed out, that option is not available as per Mac colors. It shouldn't be any issues with products & features.

If you have any queries, please reply back to this email.

Best regards,

-----end of message------

I cannot believe AVG's reply!  I just paid for upgrade only?  NO that is not what that upgrade pop up invitation said.
I now understand why so many current AVG customers are unhappy.  If you were using AVG software be ware of upgrade invitation, it's a trap!  Be sure    to take screenshots of offer page, and keep it.  If you have already ordered it like me, you need the screenshot to prove it.
