Wirex

So for those of you who haven’t heard of Wirex, it’s a crypto solution that aims to bridge your cryptocurrency and the ability to pay in stores. With their own (quite cool) green Visa card you can spend the bitcoin you own. If you want to HODL your bitcoin and spend fiat, you can - Wirex offers cards in GBP, USD and EUR. Furthermore you can hold other currencies, including the Japanese YEN and Swiss Franc amongst others. Like a traditional bank you receive a sort code and account number, making it easy to set up direct debits and transfer money to your account!

Wirex has wallets for BTC, ETH, NANO, LTC, XRP, XLM and a bunch more cryptocurrencies.

Cryptoback

What many people find attractive about Wirex however, is it’s unique CryptoBack scheme. You can earn 0.5% BTC back on every in-store transaction you make - pretty cool right 😎. Using Wirex for the last month, I have earned over 70,000 Satoshis - which is not a bad amount considering I earned maybe half that equivalent in ETH on Cent. Its an easy way to acquire crypto for doing nothing.

Fees

Quite annoyingly, there is a £1 fee for your card every month. Its relatively cheap, but does still eat into your earnings. Furthermore, there are very small fees when buying crypto, around 0.9%. This is much cheaper than alternatives like Coinbase - they also offer OTC rates which are better than Coinbase

Wirex Token

To further bolster the functionality of their product, Wirex has released a token called Wirex Token - this cna be bought on OKEx, KuCoin or through the Wirex app. Since I bought it, the value has tripled! Holding Wirex Token increases the amount of CryptoBack you can earn and also reduce the fees you pay.

KYC

Wirex does require KYC to access the app. I appreciate this is frustrating for many individuals, but is necessary to gain the benefits offered by Wirex.
