The Landers' Conquest

This was written for a contest/giveaway organized by Alwinnn, one of the developers of Torum. If you're not on Torum yet, get on before the daily rewards halve, and use my referral link while you're at it: https://www.torum.com/signup?referral_code=cmasta4. Alwinnn created all of the artwork that you see herein.

Seriously, Torum is one of those gems like Hive that's still in the startup phase. They're developing an exchange, and the native tipping token, XTM, will be bridged to both Ethereum and the BSC. The ICO is over, but you can still get it for free doing daily, weekly, and achievement tasks. It takes less time to earn your daily rewards than it does here on Publish0x, and the dollar value of your prizes are also promised to be significantly greater (1 XTM ~ 0.05 USD). Plus, the community is really active with giveaways and other ways to tip each other/earn.

T+0: Before today, all I had ever seen fall from the sky were machines. I guessed that they were surveying my planet for something, and I guess I was right.

This time, the airship was larger than normal, and a creature stepped out soon after it landed. I shall henceforth refer to the creature as a Lander.

The creature immediately stuck a pole in the ground with a red cloth attached to it that waves when the wind blows. It is quite soothing to watch, actually. Perhaps the Landers use these tools to survey the shape of the air. There is a white symbol on the cloth. Could it be pointing to their home? I do not think so. Perhaps I am missing something…

T+30 days: I have been observing the Lander for several days and am pleasantly surprised by its intelligence and appreciation for its surroundings. It appears to be alone on my planet, but often speaks to others that I assume belong to its own race. I think more of them are planning to visit. Are they all this way?

I wonder if I should make myself known to the Lander.

T+60 days: More airships arrived from the Lander’s home, some of them carrying more of its comrades. I was thinking about revealing myself to the Lander before its friends arrived, but now I think I will remain in the shadows. The other Landers are also intelligent and beginning to spread their machines far and wide over the surface of my planet. I wonder why they left their own planet.

T+360 days: The Landers have managed to establish a colony on my planet. I am continually impressed by their tools, but after having watched them for a while, I can see that, in general, we have very different dispositions. I am still following the first Lander that set foot on my planet, but I do not dare show myself, for even though I consider it a friend, I still am not certain how it would react to something like me. Besides, I could not effectively communicate with it.

T+900 days: Some days ago, many more Landers arrived on the planet in much larger airships than I had ever seen. The Landers that were already here had finished building even larger structures some time before, and I assumed it was because more were on their way.

They are quite loud and have already made a mess of their own colony… I can only imagine what their own planet looks like. In only several days, I now understand why they must have left.

I have also noticed that the Landers tend to be more comfortable sticking together in pods. The one I have been following was reunited with its spawn and other fellows, and I feel very warm seeing them together. I feel a sort of cold, too, because the Lander was complete and has always been complete without me. My body temperature does not usually change like this. Perhaps I have inherited traits from the Landers…

In only several days, I have seen them do things that I find to be destructive in exchange for something they call “XTM”. I have never actually seen this “XTM”; only heard them repeat the word. It appears to be one of their favorite things. I almost wish I had some… I have never felt this arbitrary longing before either…

The Landers have made this planet their home. Perhaps I should find another, too…
