Does evil exist?

The Bible certainly tells us it does, and that is the most widely owned book in the world, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe not the most widely read though. There's a copy in pretty much every hotel room in the US so that's probably why.

And that is kind of evil.

I wonder sometimes if there is some sort of balancing act going on, or demons or something that cause some humans to behave as they do. Like the 2016 election of Trump, for instance. Did that just happen randomly or what? It almost doesn't make sense unless there is a demonic phenomenon that caused it to happen. And, oddly enough, if that phenomenon is linked to anything, it would probably be linked to the Bible.

So here in the USA, we have these people that call themselves pro-life, except these same people are campaigning to reelect this old actor/'businessman' for president that is objectively anti-life according to a direct interpretation of the New Testament. No matter how this is interpreted, Donald Trump is well-known to be a sinner. But these Christian people are doing it IN THE NAME OF JESUS?!

That is so fucked up that I'm not even using the word fuck just to be artificially comical. Have you ever noticed when you're watching bad stand-up comedy that the audience just goes bat-shit for no reason when the comedian says a curse word? It doesn't even have to be funny.

Not that I ever personally choose to consume bad stand-up comedy, but I've politely sat through it enough to make this analysis.

Seriously, I want to believe that evil doesn't exist, but all evidence points to it definitely existing.

But why? Does Satan actually exist? Not to use the Bible as my only source here, but I'm pretty sure Satan is only ever alluded to, at least up until Ephesians (I'm almost finished guys), whereas, as far as anyone can tell, God is written as a physical character in the Old Testament.

I don't know, man. It's weird. People are weird. Working a factory job in northern Illinois, being kind of close to Detroit, has me appreciating the fact that human incompetence here could just be due in part to lead poisoning. I mean, of course that isn't good, but at least it provides some sort of an excuse. Michigan did swing from blue to red in 2016 after the Flint crisis, so that's just a little bit satisfyingly unsettling...

Heavy metals are bad, mmkay? Cilantro is your friend either way.

I want to end this on a better note, so let us shift then our focus from the undeniably bad to the undeniably good which also exists in our world. There are a lot of altruistic people trying to do what is best for the greater good while neglecting their own personal gain. You don't see them as often, but that's because they're often too busy struggling to advertise their existence.
