Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well :)

I was surprised there's nothing to be found about Sunflower Land on publish0x at all, while it's a cool game for the casual player, it's similar as the well known web2 game Village and Farm where you need to build your farm, grow crops, sell them, complete food orders to sell which you have to produce in one of your buildings, harvest eggs from your chickens, cut wood, mine rocks to expand and craft items which you can use or sell and take part in the events around the year.

I'm playing this game for quite a while now, and also played the beta version, which had some benefits like having legacy skill and starting the final version called 'Land Expansion' with a head start because we, the beta players already had a chance to bring resources we already harvested to the new version.

Polygon Blockchain
The game in running on the Polygon blockchain, the cheaper transaction layer 2 solution on the ETH network and it's not a very time consuming game, and can be played on both PC and mobile (IOS and Android) with various wallets in-app browsers such as MetaMask, or by using the wallet connect function inside another browser, of course you still have to have access to your wallet on your phone because you're handling micro transactions every now and then.

Are all actions in-game also on the blockchain? That's expensive, right?
While this was true with the start of the game a year ago, and it was responsible for the polygon network clogging up, the devs made some changes and now while you play and perform in-game actions, everything is saved on the game servers.
When you run out of seeds or tools (needed to chop wood for example) you need to sync your game to the blockchain, this will require some fee for the games developers (around $0,10) as well as fee for the transaction itself. When you are familiar with Polygon, you already know last months the network has been pretty busy, and gas prices have been higher than before, when you can wait for gas prices to drop (when Asia is asleep) it'll cost around 0.4 Matic to sync your game, for a starting casual player, you can last about a week with all seeds before you need to sync again.

Bumpkin
When you start the game you have to mint your own farm for $5 in Matic, with it you get your own character called a Bumpkin, when you cook food in the buildings with the crops you harvested, you can feed your bumpkin to level it, higher levels have more skill points to grow your crops faster or have more yield for each seed.
This $5 is basically the only money you HAVE to pay to get started, but to help you get started it's best to buy some SFL too, so I would recommend to buy another $5 worth of SFL to get you going.
You can swap matic for SFL on quickswap, don't use metamask swap because that's more expensive.
This is your farm when you start, so at the start you'll have 13 seed plots to use.

Booster NFT's
When you have some extra budget, you can also pick up some booster NFT's to boost your game's performance, prices vary from $5 for a basic scarecrow (Nancy) boosting your growth time with 15% to several hundreds of $ for the more expensive ones. While they have utility, they also look pretty on your farm.

Different Seeds and Animals
Depending on your real life schedule that day, you can sow long timer seeds when you're busy or very short time seeds when you have some spare time. The fastest growing seed is Sunflower with 1 minute growth time when you start the game, the longest is Kale, with more than 24 hours.
When you progress in the game, you can also have chickens that eat wheat and produce eggs, which you can use to bake cakes to sell or eat and get XP for your bumpkin. In the future more animals will come with their own game loops.

Is this game profitable?
You won't get rich from it but that has never been it's purpose, but yes, there is some money to be made. I'll give you an example:

2399b2dcecfeee0b65ef629ad56eb2b8cc643da687921795a5555d0de38298e1.jpg

This is radish seed, you'll get 40 seeds with every sync. (which you still have to buy with the governance token SFL) You buy the seed for 0.0875 SFL and it'll take 24 hours to grow when you start the game, you can boost your ingame performance with NFT's to place on your farm as well as skills you earn by levelling up your Bumpkin, more about this later, so that's why my timer says only 17hrs and 26mins.
When it's ready to harvest, you can sell it in the in-game shop where you also buy your seeds with some profit.

selling the radish here will get you a profit of 0,0371875 SFL for each seed, however, you can also stock it all up until you run out of SFL, and then send everything over to your wallet with a blockchain transaction (this will cost around $0.05 in matic) this way you have to pay 30% tax though, so for every 100 crops you're sending, you're only getting 70 crops on your wallet. When you did this, you can sell your crops on NiftySwap and while prices vary each day and you have to calculate if it's worth it. I just calculated it for radish, and with the 30% tax it's better to sell in game now.
Another example which IS better to sell outside of the game:

66f956442c9ff27e1e41d3f75f69249e9addfd5e95d2a0d5621c0dc8287bcb46.jpg

You need to buy this seed for 0.0625 SFL, selling price is 0.091875 SFL, profit is 0,029375 for every seed. When you sell this on Niftyswap though:

you're getting 0.2481 x 0.7 (because of the 30% tax to bring it out of the game) = 0,17367 SFL for every seed, nearly double the price!

SFL is somewhere near the $0.10 cents mostly

What does it look when you get further into the game?

This is my farm, and I'm no hardcore big $ spender, I invested $50 into the game to get things started, to boost my growth speed, wood and rock yield, as well as some seed specific boosts such as +20% yield bonus for pumpkins. I've expanded 7 times now, with every expansion you have a chance for for resources on your farm, every expansion has 6 different outcomes how much plots, trees, rocks, iron or gold deposits it will have.

When you want to start, go to the sunflower land website to check it out.
