Hey guys! Today I will be talking about a site called Lightning Roulette. This game, however, is a roulette scam. In this article, I will be discussing about why I believe this is a scam.
Today, I decided to try Lightning Roulette, which is a bitcoin lightning-based roulette game online. At first, it seems very innocent, but it is just one large scam. This, however, is not due to the probabilities, but rather the "mysterious" bugs that happen whilst playing the game.
The "No Chip Placement Bug"
I found it odd that when the "No Chip Placement Bug" happened, which is when I bet a chip and it did not register when I spined it, only when I won my bets. This would have been fine, but every time this happened, I seemed to only win. This, however, is not the only suspicious "bug" I found.
Directly stealing satoshis during some bets
Another odd thing that I found was that when I bet and I won, sometimes, it would just deduct satsoshis instead of rewarding me. This "bug" was obviously intentional because it only occurs periodically, and it does directly the opposite of what it's supposed to do (Which is to reward me when I win). This did happen multiple times, but the next one is the final piece of the evidence.
Giving me extremely low odds TWICE in a row
When playing roulette, there are two different colors to choose from (Black and Red). Once, I picked only red and began playing it, but a rare 1/2048 chance occurred, and the machine picked black 12 times. Despite this, I still gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to pick black instead. This, however, is where things begin to go off track. Somehow, the machine picked red 20 times in a row, right after it did the black streak. The chance of the machine picking red 20 times in a row is insanely low, which is a whopping 1/1048576. The chances for me to swap from red to black after playing it 12 times to red 20 times is alone an extremely low probability. This entire scenario has the probability of a 1/4.76837158912E-17. Seeing the insanely low chance of this scenario happening and all of the mysterious "bugs" occurring, I think it's safe to say that this is a scam project, only seeking a quick buck.
Conclusion:
This experience has helped me learn a lot about making sure to check the game out before buying into it. This time, however, I learned it first-hand. You, the reader, can also learn from this by also doing your own extensive research for a project.
And I think we can all agree that 1/4.76837158912E-17 is a scam.
Anyways, that's it for me. I hope you learned a lot from this article, and have a good day :)
