I have talked a lot about Pi Network in the past so if you want to know more about it I recommend to check this article. So far 2020 has been an important year for the project and it appears that it is finally taking shape. As a result 2021 is going to be even crazier for Pi especially because of some announcements made recently.

1. 2020 : a landmark year

First, in early January the Pi community reached +2.5 million engaged pioneers and then crossed +3.5 million only 1 month later, just before Pi Day on March 14 (3/14 for Pi's first digits). An important day because it's during Pi Day 2020 that the Phase 2 was finally released, a phase which aimed to build value with an Applications platform and decentralized the network by building the testnet.

Then on April 1st, Pi released the first Beta version of its Node Software, resulting in over 100.000 applications from Pioneers in order to become a Node. During few month the Core Team worked on decentralization, scalability, Node selection & the Pi Applications platform, meanwhile the Network reached 6 million Pioneers on July 8th.

In late August 100.000 free KYC slots were offered by the Core Team to dedicated Pioneers (Pioneers who joined the project early, who are active with the community & who mine really often). The Core Team updated the Pi Node version and the Pi App, then a Convention was planned on October 16th allowing Pioneers to discuss with members of the Core Team, to suggest ideas, to give their opinions and to have exclusive informations.

Finally on December 8th the Pi network crossed 10 million engaged Pioneers, an important milestone for the project and a special event : the halving of the base mining rate, as a result the next milestone is 100 million Pioneers or the Mainnet.

2. 2021 : the decisive year

Right now the Core Team is developing a Pi wallet and is asking to the community what they exactly want and what are their preferences. A functionality "suggest a creator" was also instaured, allowing the Core Team to be aware of people who are making content about Pi in general. But more importantly a Brainstorm App was released, an Application allowing Pioneers to propose Pi Apps ideas, join projects, Pioneers can donate Pi to support a specific published project. 

In every projects there are 3 roles, admins, businessman, and developers, it should help people to develop Apps for the Pi Network more easily. More and more news will be announced during this 2021 year by the Core Team but the main objective stay the same but with higher stakes, continue to build a huge community of Pioneers, work on scalability, on Nodes & SuperNodes, and the most important the launch of the Mainnet in late 2021.

It means that the project will finally come to something really interesting, and which means that Pi will have a value and will be exchanged, etc...
