“The best revenge is not to be like your enemy” – Marcus Aurelius

After watching the news about Capitol Hill, I was disappointed. Whether you disagree or agree with why they started to protest, they were exercising their first amendment right. I love it when I see people protest for what they believe in, whether I agree with them or not. Why? The first amendment is a right our forefathers fought tooth and nail for. However, the actions of some of those protesters turning to violence were disgusting. They acted no better than the people they berated for rioting in the latter half of 2020. It just made me think of this quote Marcus Aurelius wrote. Had they not acted like animals, the media would not have painted an even worse picture of Republicans in general. It's always the extremists who ruin it for everyone else. It sickens me that a person got injured. Be the better person. Reflecting on these events, I always stooped to another person's level.

What weakness did I overcome?

Realizing I shouldn't stoop to the level of those I despise

What virtue did I acquire?

Reminded myself of being peaceful
