The End of Freebitco.in? Why the Famous Faucet Stopped Paying Out

By PennyPay | PennyPay | 25 Oct 2025

Freebitco.in stood out as one of the oldest and most consistent crypto faucets for over a decade. But heading into 2026, the cracks are impossible to ignore. Users report months without payouts, withdrawals stuck in limbo and support channels gone quiet. The site outages, endless withdrawal delays and mounting scam claims tie back to heavy legal hits. Mounting complaints on BitcoinTalk and Trustpilot suggest a deeper problem is growing. What began as a minor slowdown may be spiraling into a full collapse.

Domain Expiration and Access Problems
The trouble ramped up in early October 2025. Freebitco.in's domain expired on October 10, 2025, knocking the site offline. It was renewed to expire in 2026 shortly after, but some users still had trouble accessing their funds or the site. This sparked major concerns on Reddit's r/PennyPay about mismanagement or something shadier. This was not an isolated glitch. It was part of a pattern that eroded trust. There was never an official acknowledgement of the site going down. However, Freebitco.in extended its domain registration on October 20, 2025, to last until October 10, 2031. A domain registration is a cheap cost to maintain control of a large userbase. As of October 25, 2025, the domain is in "pendingTransfer" status.

Ongoing Withdrawal Freezes and Complaints
Withdrawals have been stuck in limbo for months. Users on BitcoinTalk report requests from August 2025 and earlier as still pending, with no transaction IDs or support replies. One thread details how Freebitco.in relies on its decade-long reputation to take advantage of unsuspecting users. Trustpilot echoes the same sentiment. Reviews on Trustpilot call it a scam after deposits vanish and withdrawals never process. Support has gone silent everywhere, fueling frustration. Freebitco.in representatives (TheQuin and CSFBC) are no longer active on the Bitcointalk forum. However, Freebitco.in continues to promote lotteries and jackpots on social media.

KYC Shifts and User Exodus
In 2023, Freebitco.in began enforcing mandatory KYC verification. This change immediately drove away a portion of the user base. The sudden change broke with a decade-long “no KYC” tradition and increased regulatory attention. The team never explained the decision. But it coincided with growing global pressure on crypto gambling platforms. The shift towards KYC likely marked the beginning of Freebitco.in’s downfall.

Legal Troubles from 2024 Piling On
On October 24, 2024, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) sent a formal warning to FBC B.V, which is the legal name of Freebitco.in's. The warning came because they offered unlicensed interactive gambling services to Australians. ACMA said FBC B.V. broke the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. They did this by providing banned and unlicensed gambling that Australians could access.

On November 15, 2024, the Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) hit FBC B.V. with a €280,000 weekly penalty (up to €840,000). This was for offering games like Hi-Lo and lotteries to Dutch users without a license. Actions by gambling regulators in the Netherlands and Australia blocked access in those regions and boosted global oversight. This hit Freebitco.in hard on the financial and operational fronts.

Exit Scam Suspicions Rooted in Reality
The combination of frozen funds, no communication and vanished support has users on BitcoinTalk labeling it an exit scam. Threads suggest admins may have bailed or lost control due to legal woes. While these are only theories, the reality is payouts aren't happening. Delays started mid-2025 and things have only worsened since that time.

Bottom Line: Likely on Its Last Legs
Freebitco.in's 12-year run seems over. It has been hammered by infrastructure fails, user distrust from KYC and mismanagement amplified by 2024 fines. While the domain is active, forums portray Freebitco.in as defunct or exiting. There has not been a verified payout in months.
