Silhouettes painted by the moon
Glimpse of lovers barefoot in wet dunes
Leave their footprints as they walk ashore
Tides ebb and flow, i can't find them anymore
The tender path and gentle breeze
Absence of sun's unpatronising gaze
Trapped in ephemeral allure of grace
Spilled water, why, there is no more trace
To watch the sunrise despite the sunset
Morning stroll where we supposed to meet
Merely movies but we wish them never end
Memories embedded, colorful inside my head
Morning, noon, and afternoon
Hope the sun never gives up so soon
In this lackluster heart of a fickle being
Those times with you is still shining
-We all have a memory of someone from the past, sharing that 'bittersweetness of our youth' as they say, with you. Maybe some of us have kept the relationship between and remain as friends, some become lovers, and sad to say some was pulled out of place from our sight but not in our heart. We recalled those moments with them that we wished would never end but we outgrown them that we had to let go, or them to us.
This poem is about my memory of someone who became more than a brother but never became a lover. My innocence denied the simple fact that he had already occupied my heart, I continued to be platonic despite that there were symptoms of attraction. I was afraid to open up believing that nobody would take him away from me because he was always by my side. Playfully, smiling and joking which makes my melancholy replace by sunshine.
But all of a sudden, I never knew he was that eagerly wishing for a promise, an unexpected came. He got married so suddenly to a person I never thought would be and denied me of invitation. So that's how it ends between us. But sometimes I was wasting my time pondering question in my head if it's really platonic to him everything that we had shared.
All in, I blame it on a fickleness of a heart of a youth. But in my opinion, if you start to write a story with a beautiful start do please end it with a happy ending as much as you can with integrity.
Have a happy day everyone.
