Fear of Crisis or Crisis of Purpose?

By Panik Politics | PanikPolitics | 13 Jul 2020

How does fear of crisis carve a path for big government and law in order? The path it takes is articulate, unseen to the naked eye, but it is there. You may ask “how is this possible? I read or saw on the news..” without realising that these statements alone show that you have been washed into group-think.

Let’s take a step back.

I read an interesting medical journal on the fear of crisis and its effects on mental health and the workplace. It concluded,

“Fear of the crisis in this study appeared to be an important construct for organisational and social well being. In addition, this study highlighted the importance of employ-ability during austere times. Employ-ability might help employees to feel more secure during the crisis because people who have many alternatives in the labour market may be less affected by job insecurity than those with fewer alternatives.”

The article goes on to discuss how social support and job stress actually mediate the relationship of fear of the crisis with mental health.

In these conclusions, parallels presented themselves to the society we face today.

A fear of crisis erupted in the beginning of the year 2020, expanded through the spring, and continues to last through the summer months. The secure feeling of employ-ability was stripped by the government as jobs were deemed “essential” and “non-essential.” To top it off, social support became non-existent. The CDC and WHO instructed the world to social distance- friends and families left to communicate through a screen. Social needs of love, warmth, and touch, no longer possible. Apps like Zoom and GoToMeet replaced walks in the park, morning coffee meetings, and date nights.

Soon followed the riots. Cities being taken over by radicalised extremists. Cops abandoning their posts, receiving no support from political leaders.

What avalanche will come to stop this snowball effect? Will the people beg for complete government control? To save their homes, their businesses? Will the general population realize it is no longer safe for their children to attend school, walk to the bus stop, and safely gain an education. The common citizen will beg and plead the government for help- to end this violence and hatred.

Study history, don’t destroy it.

In 1848, German philosopher and economist Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles published The Communist Manifesto. This manifesto called for the working class to rise up and revolt against capitalism. It rallied the working class together.

In 1917, during Russia’s October revolution, Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks seized power, ascribing to Marxism… becoming the first communist government.

In 1921, The Communist Party of China is formed.. inspired by this Russian revolution.

1940–1979, communism is established through revolution or force in countries like Cuba, North Korea, Sudan, Angola, Cape Verde, Laos, South Vietnam, Somalia, Grenada, Albania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Yogoslavia, Romania.. and the list just keeps going.

Revolutionists thought they were fighting for the greater good, when really, once power was assumed the first to go were the ones that created most noise, for fear of another revolution against the newly founded communist governments.

A fear of crisis in America has led to loss of jobs, loss of social support, discontent, anarchy, and revolution. The riots and protests have spread internationally. While it may not lead to Communism, law-makers have discussed and proposed policy in reactionary response. Big tech, government control.. the events of 2020 is a perfect recipe for new law and order to be carried out and swiftly implemented with immense justification.
