Mercuryo Wallet Review

Mercuryo Wallet Review

What is it?

Mercuryo is a crypto wallet that allows you to exchange and buy crypto currency with fiat, much in the same way as Coinbase. It is available to download on the Appstore in addition to website access via https://mercuryo.io.

Which crypto currencies can you buy?

The wallet allows you to buy the following coins:

  • Bitcoin
  • Bitcoin Cash
  • Ethereum
  • Basic Attention Token
  • Tether
  • Algorand
  • TRON
  • OKB
  • Dai
  • Elrond

While the list is not as impressive as other exchanges, they are some of the most popular coins on the marketplace.

Fees and charges

When buying crypto with a debit card, there is a 3.95% charge. This is slightly cheaper than Coibase’s charge of 3.99% per purchase with a debit.

When receiving crypto from another address there is no fee that is charged, but there are variable gas fees when withdrawing to another wallet/address.

How easy is it to set up?

To set up an account, Mercuryo does require KYC in the same vein as Coinbase. You will have to upload ID and a selfie to get verified. Though, the process of verification was much faster on this website compared to Coinbase. It took up to a week for my Coinbase account to get verified when starting. Comparatively, it only took a few minutes to verify on Mercuryo.

2FA is also a requirement when signing up, which is essential for good security. Though, the 2FA is only available through mobile and e-mail and as far as I am aware there is no option to set up a authenticator, which would be preferable.

Customer Support

One of the positives that I have found with this exchange so far is the quick response time to queries. Some of the other wallets/exchanges can take a while to reply, but Mercuryo was very quick to answer – with each query being answered within 5-10 minutes.

Review

I have only recently started using this wallet and so far, it is pretty good. It does not have as much choice as Coinbase or Kucoin but it is very easy to set up and get going. It seems very secure and as mentioned, the biggest benefit is the ease of setting up an account.
