2. High Leverage Crashed Bitcoin to $3,800
The Bitcoin price recently crashed to as low as $3,600 on BitMEX and $3,800 on Bitfinex, recording its worst single-day drop in seven years. On March 12, when the Bitcoin price plummeted by more than 50% from $7,900 to $3,600, it liquidated $1 billion worth of long contracts on BitMEX alone. 3. Coinbase volume hits yearly highs
The coronavirus pandemic is wreaking havoc on global markets across the board. However as the market continues to spiral downward, trading volume has spiked on crypto exchanges. Coinbase registered yearly record-breaking volumes on Thursday and Friday amid a market sell-off in crypto. On Thursday, the volume on the San Francisco-based exchange surpassed $1.1B, a 280% increase from the prior day. 4. Atari Finally Moves on with Crypto, Begins Token Presale
Atari, a major player in the video and arcade game industry has launched its token sale event. Atari token private presale round went live on March 15, 2020, with the round 1 of its 5-round public presale beginning on March 20, 2020, and runs until May 15, 2020. The team says the Atari token is designed to function as a store of value and it can also be used by holders to trade their in-game assets in a decentralized manner, while also being able to exchange their Atari tokens for other digital assets on crypto exchanges. 5. Starbucks Adds “Bakkt Cash” App To Accept Crypto Payments
Users of the Starbucks iPhone app are now being presented with “Bakkt Cash” as a payment option. However, Starbucks says the Bakkt Cash option is only in limited beta for now. Starbucks confirmed it remains a "strategic launch partner" for Bakkt's dollar-denominated digital wallet. "We anticipate that a range of cryptocurrencies will gain traction with customers and, we will offer customers new and unique ways to pay seamlessly, at Starbucks," the coffee chain said. 6. Enjin’s ‘Multiverse’ makes Ethereum items usable across games
After making it easier to add Ethereum-based, in-game assets, Enjin’s next objective is to bring in more and more games to share those player-owned items. Enjin has now launched a program to encourage interoperability of items between games from different creators. The Enjin Multiverse Program is an expanded version of an initiative that first launched in August 2018. Back then, Enjin announced that six blockchain-based games would adopt the ERC-1155 token standard, allowing players to not only own tokenized digital items but then use them across all supported games. 7. Opera allows its US users to buy bitcoin and ether via Apple Pay
Internet users in the U.S. get more crypto-native browser support, as Opera rolls out Bitcoin and Ether wallets and direct crypto purchases with debit cards and Apple Pay. Through a partnership with Wyre, a U.S.-licensed money transmitter in the cryptocurrency sector, Opera will enable U.S.-based customers to buy the BTC and ETH directly from the browser’s crypto wallet. 8. Binance Launches $50M 'Blockchain for India' Fund
Binance and India-based bitcoin exchange WazirX – announced Tuesday their new "Blockchain for India" fund would incubate and invest in local startups that contribute to the creation of a sophisticated cryptocurrency and blockchain ecosystem, that could include fiat gateways, remittance platforms, stablecoin solutions and new applications for decentralized finance (DeFi).The new fund comes weeks after the Indian Supreme Court lifted a central bank-imposed ban that prevented cryptocurrency businesses from accessing financial services.
