1. Ethereum Based DeFi projects grew nearly 800% over the last year
The number of dapp transactions that occurred in Q1 of 2020 increased tenfold over the same period in 2019. A total transaction volume of $7.9 billion across 13 blockchains was recorded, with the three leading smart-contracting chains, Ethereum, EOS and TRON. Where as per report, Ethereum-based DeFi projects are the main volume growth driver, increasing 778% compared to 2019 Q1. 2. Dutch Brokerage Platform Launches Crypto Trading Across Europe
Dutch retail brokerage platform BUX launched its commission-free cryptocurrency trading platform BUX Crypto. The company announced that BUX Crypto is now available across 25 European countries. BUX stated that its new offering aims to bring new traders into cryptocurrency markets by simplifying the crypto trading process At present, the platform supports the trade of six major cryptocurrencies, namely Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), XRP, Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC) and the platform’s native token BUX. 3. Overstock Will Offer Millions of Security Tokens to Its Stockholders
Overstock has slated the date to airdrop OSTKO security tokens as a dividend to its shareholders. They’ll get one security token for every ten OSTK shares they own as of April 27, making for 4.37 million tokens to be distributed in total. Importantly, trading for these tokens will take place exclusively on Overstock’s alternative trading system tZERO. 7. Lightning-Friendly Fold To Launch Visa Backed Bitcoin Reward Cards
The Fold app a Lightning-compatible mobile app that offers users Bitcoin rewards (BTC) while shopping — has joined Visa’s Fintech Fast Track Program. Joining the program will enable the app to launch a new Visa co-branded card, which will offer Bitcoin rewards for purchases made at retailers. Reddit could be about to implement a new blockchain-based points system on its app. Redditor MagoCrypto posted the video, which is a walkthrough of a new build of the Reddit app that shows a feature with mention of community points. When delving into the FAQs of the wallet feature there appear to be pages on distribution, wallet, backup and recovery, and on the blockchain.
