1. Tesla Completes Blockchain Pilot to Speed China Imports Process
U.S. electric car manufacturer Tesla is working with the Shanghai Port Group to test if blockchain can make the process of importing goods into China any easier. blockchain-based logistics provider CargoSmart revealed Tesla, the Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) – the sole operator of the port – and Chinese cargo ship operator COSCO trialed a blockchain app that shortened the cargo release time and makes it easier for Tesla's logistics teams to take ownership of goods once they are offloaded. 2. Michael Novogratz Claims Stock Rebound is Trap, Go Bitcoin Instead
Billionaire, CEO of crypto merchant bank Galaxy Digital, Michael Novogratz said that the recent rebound in stocks might lead to another decline soon. Instead, he is confident in Bitcoin and gold. He told that investors shouldn’t be misled by the recent spike in stock prices, and should buy non-stock assets, cryptocurrency and gold, would be the right approach. 3. Italy’s News Agency Uses Blockchain to Fight Fake Coronavirus News
A major news agency in Italy is hoping to stop fake news by implementing blockchain technology. ANSA, Italy’s main news agency in collaboration with Big Four accounting firm Ernst & Young has launched a news tracking system based on blockchain to bring more trust between the company and its readers. Called ANSAcheck, the blockchain-powered tool allows users to verify the origin and history of news published on its platforms, its affiliated publications as well as third parties such as social media or other platforms. 4. Report: Retail Bitcoin investors are buying the dip
According to the most recent State of the Network report from blockchain analytics company Coin Metrics, “the number of addresses holding relatively small amounts of BTC has been increasing since the March 12th crash. The number of addresses holding between one billionth(1/1B) and one hundred millionth(1/100M) of the total BTC supply has increased about 6% over the last 90 days. 5. Italy Red Cross Deployed Medical Post Bought with Bitcoin donations
Bitcoin donations are helping save Italian lives on the front line of the battle against COVID-19. On April 5, an Advanced Medical Post (AMP) for pre-triage was erected by the Italian Red Cross in Castel Gandolfo, a town near Rome. The AMP was purchased using BTC donations that were part of a fundraising campaign focused on the COVID-19 emergency in Italy. The campaign raised around US$31,828 in bitcoin. 6. Decentralized crypto exchange Bisq halts trading due to ‘critical security vulnerability’
Decentralized or non-custodial cryptocurrency exchange Bisq has halted trading until further notice due to a “critical security vulnerability.” Announcing the news on Tuesday, Bisq said it has used the alert key to "temporarily disable trading." "Bisq is a proper distributed peer-to-peer network. So you can override the latest alert key functionality that blocks trading. But we highly discourage you from doing this for your own security," said the exchange. 7. Demand for Bitcoin online courses explodes
The number of people signing up for online Bitcoin and cryptocurrency learning courses has skyrocketed in the wake of COVID-19. Popular online learning platform Udemy told it saw a fourfold increase in demand for its Bitcoin and cryptocurrency courses in the past month alone. Coursera, a service that collates courses from universities worldwide, also saw a huge uptick in Bitcoin-based classes in the last four weeks. 8. A new bitcoin-backed token ‘tzBTC’ launches on the Tezos blockchain
A group of Switzerland-based crypto firms has come together to launch “tzBTC” a 1:1 bitcoin-backed token on the Tezos blockchain. The Bitcoin Association Switzerland, which monitors the tzBTC system said tzBTC gives holders the ability to interact with Tezos smart contracts while pegging to the value of bitcoin. Lucas Betschart, president of Bitcoin Association Switzerland, told, goal with tzTBC is to make bitcoin even more accessible and flexible, strengthening its position as the leading currency.
