How many of you have started blogging and dumped it because you had so many great ideas that it got overwhelming? What about starting with a great idea that fizzled because it got boring being crammed into a tiny niche? I have. To both ideas. It occurred to me that the problem isn't (wasn't) me, it's the idea that a blog has to be one thing or another. A blog should reflect the writer, and introduce the readers to new ideas.

I am reminded that magazines and other media 50 to 100 years back were a hodgepodge of different topics and content. That's what sold. You could have a news magazine with "up to date" news right along side with advice columns, recipes, cleaning tips, car reviews, literally just about anything. Even cartoons got in there. Why can't blogs be the same?

Well "Omnigrapher" isn't just my namesake anymore. I think it will be just as I described. A hodgepodge of information and ideas. I have a lot of stuff rattling around and some of it will be interesting to the world at large, some won't. Be warned, I'm not the world's greatest writer, but I'm not the worst. I have an "off the cuff" style of writing that publishers and scholars don't like. Sometimes I write about boring stuff. Sometimes I write funny stuff. Most of the time I make pictures (expect to see them in my blog). It's all just a way to clean out the attic, if you know what I mean.
