The year 2008 seems like a long long time ago. During that year of the global meltdown, bitcoin was born. Steve Jobs was still alive and was one of the 2008 Time 100 most influential people. My son was two years old-ish back then. His favourite toy was tennis balls (not sure if it has anything to do with his Chinese zodiac sign - the dog.)
Right, about the crypto world.
If I would have bought the bitcoins in 2008... I can't count how many times I have heard that line. Well, you cannot blame yourself for the action(or non-action) that was done at the time when you knew only so little about the subject. What's more? If any of us has taken that step, we would not be here reading this post(or writing it.) Just because you did not buy bitcoins back in 2008 does not mean you are too late to enter the crypto world.
The truth is -- anyone can enter the crypto world at any given time IF one is sincerely interested. An ancient Chinese philosopher Laozi once said, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It is not just a wise saying. It's a fact.
I am in my mid-40s. Starting this year, I am thinking seriously about my senior stage of life as well as a plan to leave something behind for my children. The global pandemic absolutely highlights the uncertainty of life. I am taking my first step to a keen and mature approach to manage my finance. Personally, I believe in the concept of cryptocurrency. In order to plan for the future, it is only wise to get involved in cryptos, no matter in a small or big way.
Of course, there are still many crypto doubters and onlookers. If you are one of them, you can still utilize some of the legitimate resources online to bring in a small portion of crypto coins without spending any money. I am only posting the sites that I have tried and tested over the past couple of months. I find them useful and/or received cryptos which I withdrew successfully.
So without making it complicated, here are 5 ways to gain cryptos for free. *My list may contain links with referral codes. I would appreciate it if you use them. It's always a win-win.
1. Cointiply - a bitcoin faucet and more

It is a combination of bitcoin faucet and a reward site. You gain free crypto by rolling the faucet hourly. It takes minimal effort to get some free coins with this site. If you would like to earn some more, you can complete the offered surveys or play online games. They provide many options to gain coins for those who are willing to spend their times on the website. However, if you are busy, you can still gain from 18 to 100,000 coins from only rolling the faucet. Each coin is pegged to the dollar (10,000:1) according to them. The tiny bit of bitcoin that I withdrew from Cointiply to my wallet has already grown 20% in one week.
On normal days, I leave the website in the background while I am doing other work. When the faucet is ready to roll, the site would play a sound to alert me. Sometimes I let my youngest kid press the button for the fun of it. I also get extra loyalty percentage points for using it daily. I withdraw the coins when they reach 100k. I keep the rest on the website as they do give you a small incentive for staking coins with them.

2. Coinbase - get educated and earn

Coinbase is one of the most secure exchange platforms for cryptos up to date. They offer rewards of cryptocurrencies for users who participate in their learning section. Other than high security, it is also a very user-friendlywebsite to trade or learn more about the crypto world. Their hosted digital wallet is one of the safest in the market. To be a user, you will need to have a complete identity and photo verification. You might get a little worried If you are new to this. I personally have found no reason to distrust Coinbase and proceeded the process with confidence.
When I opened the account, I participated in the reward program. I earned 20 euro worth of four types of cryptocurrencies by learning about them. It only took 20 minutes and was educational. The earn program of Coinbase adds new content on a regular base. I am glad to be their registered user and have stayed on to use other provided services.

3. BRAVE browser - earn while you surf

It is a solid browser that blocks ads and trackers and focuses on protecting the privacy of users. That is quite different from mainstream products. You are able to control the ads you see and gain tokens while you want to find out more in an ad. The cryptocurrency that Brave offers is BAT. You will need to have a verified account with Uphold (a digital wallet) to receive your reward. If you are a content creator (ie: youtuber)or a website owner, BRAVE also offers ways for you to earn BAT.
I have downloaded Brave quite some times ago but only started using it this month when I spend more time on my laptop. For some reason, I do not get rewarded when using the browser on my phone. They already deposit the tiny reward from my tiny effort to my Uphold wallet. I now have BAT coins in my crypto portfolio because of it. When I gain up to 10 euro worth of BAT, I plan to convert it to bitcoin or ETH for staking. I also plan to become a verified creator which I will gain tips from other BRAVE users.
For more details or to download BRAVE for your desktop, go to their official website at www.brave.com
4. Publish0x - cryptos for blogging and reading (you are here!)

Most likely you are reading this post on the platform. So I assume you already know about the what-is and how or at least, you can simply find out more while you are here. I consider myself a noob on this platform and still have not gained a significant amount of cryptos that is enough to make a withdraw. However, it is a legit website according to many reliable reviewers. Some might feel the website style is on the geeky side but I think it is practically fine.
I came across Publish0x when I was researching information on crypto. There are definitely many articles worth my time reading and tipping. Because it is not a mobile app, I only spend times on the website when I use my laptop. About a month ago, I decided to create a blog about my recent grief journey as well as useful information on cryptos. I am still so new to this platform but I plan to be a long stayer here.
If you have not yet registered yourself with the site, you cannot earn anything from reading this post or any other ones. You can sign up here.

It is a project that is still in the development stage but has drawn over 13 million users globally on its mobile mining app. At the moment, you can become one of the pioneers to mine Pi on your mobile through an invitation from a trusted member of the network. The team behind the project has not only a great concept but on the journey of developing a breakthrough technology that will change the world in ten years of time. There is not much to say other than participate in it! Sign up quick! and Join Now! while you can.
I got my link to sign up a couple of months ago and since then, the app is doing its own thing in the background (and no, you do not need to leave it open.) I also invited my family members to join so that I receive a higher mining rate as an incentive. My Pi number increases every day but I understand it is a long-term project(with tons of potential) before I get to see the result. I am glad to be part of it before they will reach 100 million pioneers quota and close the gate.
The app is available in Apple store and Google Play. You can use my invitation code: perpete after you download the app and receive one 1π from me!
Update:
I have transited from an onlooker to a small investor. I ended up investing 800 euro worth of cryptos on top of the free cryptos I earned from the above sites. My crypto portfolio has gone doubled in value within one month. Yesterday, I spent a little bit of my crypto and purchased an H&M gift card for my son to test if the system works. By the way, my son still plays tennis but has been in a youth basketball team for over 3 years.
I will write a post about putting up a small investment in crypto soon - mainly on things that I have learned. Please note that the purpose of my post is only to share my personal experience. Just for perspective, nothing else.
