Those tiny fingers running all over your body
With no respect for whatever you are doing
Who cares? All she wants is her daddy's attention
She boxes you into a corner as though it's a detention
She mumbles words without a visible dentition
"Baba" she says, mixing it up with "Mama"
She doesn't understand what life is all about
Everything is fun, everything should be fun
She isn't asking for attention, she is demanding for it
She just wants to be wrapped in your arms
Cosy, while singing the blues with croaked voices
She doesn't mind, to her it's perfect
She left imperfections for adults, what else does she understand?
You can't be too busy and not give her attention
Every opportunity is a play date when she isn't sleeping
You better be ready else her screams would drive attention
There is power in that loud tiny voice and she knows
It's her way of getting a pass for whatever you're restricting her on
She wants attention and needs you to be at your best
Parenthood is a call to a lifetime of sacrifice
It's the life we've been called to -
For those who desire that gift of graciousness
Thank you for your time.
My pen doesn't bleed, it speaks, with speed and ease.
Still me,
My tongue is like the pen of a ready writer.
