Lend your words, not your anger
Anger is only a letter short of danger
If you have to raise your voice to be heard
It shows you seek to demand respect rather than earn it
Age is not a function of wisdom, I know
Just as fame is not a function of relevance
You promised to love her soft and gentle soul
You vowed you would make her happy, isn't it?
Now, she is the object of your punches and insults
You do it to damage her self-worth, without any consult
Who asked you to play God in people's lives?
She is a person to be loved, cherished and respected
You'd rather mess her up than have her desirable
How is this tyrannical approach adorable?
Did she say hurtful words? That's okay
How many of your friends did the same?
How many of them have you battered with your fists?
You'd rather pick on someone defenceless
Than square up with a fellow man
Who will give you a good run for your money
You are nothing but a coward in human form
Shame on the man with wealth but no influence
Shame on the man with charm but no courage
Shame on the man who gave his word but failed to honour it
Shame on you who sees domestic violence
As a way of flexing your ego that is not enough to fill a cup
Never hold anyone by the hand or clothes to be heard
If you had to, then it's better to hold your tongue than them
Arguments will ensue, that's one of the perks of a relationship
There were no terms written where hitting is acceptable
Society should frown at it, it's condemnable
We need a better justice system that is sustainable
Not the one that makes domestic violence renewable
It seems if you have power in this country you go scot-free
The law seems to apply more to commoners
How we have reduced human existence to money!
It's never about what's right again but what we get
Robbing deserving people of justice with a price
The price that is not even enough to earn us a humanitarian prize
Raise your worth and not your hands
