Chelsea travelled to Malmö and managed to get a solitary goal which was enough to put them just 3 points behind Juventus. Chelsea had a near-perfect result too if not for the loss they suffered when they faced Juventus and they are still within the fighting chance to win the group hoping they win all their remaining matches which include a second leg against Juventus.
It wasn't their best performance as we have witnessed in recent games in the league but a solitary goal from Ziyech was enough to give Chelsea the needed 3 points against Malmö.
Chelsea produced decent moves that almost led to a goal in the 13th minute. The endpoint was Azpilicueta and his snapshot was stopped and pushed away for a corner kick by the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper should have done better because the shot shouldn't be spilt over for a corner kick. Chelsea struggled to find any meaningful effort on goal and in the 19th minute, Loftus-Cheek's shot went over the bar after he was found on the edge of the box by Hudson Odoi.
The goalkeeper made a mess of another shot but this time around from Christensen as he spilt the ball yet again with Alonso ready to pounce if not for the swiftness of Anel Ahmedhodžić who came to the rescue.
Loftus-Cheek's moment of brilliance almost led to a goal from Chelsea. Even though the goalkeeper managed to get his body to stop the ball from going in, it drew admiration from Thomas Tuchel. Not to be denied for too long, Hudson Odoi managed to find Ziyech in the box with a low cross and all Ziyech needed to do was guide the ball home and that's exactly what he did, away from the reach of the goalkeeper to give Chelsea the lead on the night in the 56th minute.
Malmö had another chance in the 64th minute and with players waiting to receive the pass, Erdal Rakip went for the goal himself and his shot flew agonizingly over. In the 78th minute, the goalkeeper denied Kai Havertz after Ruben Loftus-Cheek's pass found Havertz inside the box but he raced towards Havertz to deny him the goal with his foot.
In the 93rd minute, it wasn't meant to be for Chelsea in adding to their tally on the night as Pulisic pounced on the ball that sent him clear on goal. He managed to round the goalkeeper but still, he couldn't find the back of the net with the net staring graciously at him. He shockingly missed the target but it didn't matter as
