Arsenal are back in the hunt for a top 4 even though they are another team you really can't predict. They have 3 games at hand as they sit pretty in 4th position on the table. They got their job done against Watford and it's the kind of needed motivation they need as the season is gradually coming to an end. IF they managed to win their two games, they would be vying for the top 4 together with Tottenham IF they turn up with their outstanding games as well. Yes, I am ruling out Manchester United and West Ham out of the top 4 race. It's now a two-horse race at the top of the table.
Watford are still battling relegation and Dennis thought he had given Watford the lead inside 25 seconds with a cool and composed finish but his effort was ruled out for offside. Arsenal knew they had to act quickly and they did. It was a brilliant and known Arsenal move that involved a one-two between Saka and Odegaard before Saka finally found Odegaard at the edge of the box and Odegaard did brilliantly well to slot the ball into the back of the net in the 5th minute.
Watford knew they had to fight and they came close with a freekick from Cucho Hernandez which was saved by Ramsdale but the effort after was something the goalkeeper could not save after Cucho Hernandez was found inside the box and his scissors kick was buried neatly at the back of the net to give Watford the equalizer.
They said motivation doesn't last often, just like bathing and that's why it's recommended from time to time. Arsenal dented Watford's motivation in the 30th minute after Tom Cleverly was robbed off the ball and Lacazette's lovely touch-lay off for Saka was important as Saka blasted the ball into the back of the net.
Lacazette is proving to be the leader Arsenal needs even though he is used to wasting too many chances but his involvement in gameplay cannot be faulted as he provided the same pattern he did with Saka also with Martinelli and he also rifled his shot into the back of the net to give Arsenal a 2-goal cushion with 3-1.
It proved to be a nervy ending for Arsenal we Sissoko scored in the 87th minute after he was picked out by a long pass which he did brilliantly well to control and lose his marker before slotting into the back of the net.
Roy Hodgson has been unable to save this side and he might not be able to but they are showing that fighting chance even though it might be hard, especially with how others ahead of them are picking up points.
Realistically, I would say Arsenal are back in the hunt for the top 4... On paper and it's a good position to be in considering how many teams are vying for that same spot. There is no certainty that they would win their 3 games at hand but at least, they would still be ahead of Manchester United and West Ham. A lot would depend on Tottenham tonight when they take on Everton. If they manage to win, they would be 3 points behind Arsenal with 2 games at hand and Arsenal would be 3 games at hand, which made me say that Tottenham and Arsenal are the ones vying for that top 4 spot.
It's the Premier League and nothing is ever cast in stones because a lot can change at any given time. We would have to wait and see...
