I've shied away from writing this for a while. Gas fees have been climbing like crazy on the ETH network. These rising gas fees were making testing games/DApps an investment in itself. But the sheer amount of quality DApps on ETH made it all worthwhile. There's probably dozens more quality DApps that I chose not to include on this list.
This list was not made by taking the top 5 DApps from any one of the DApp ranking sites (dappradar, dapp.com, etc.). All of these I spent time in and made sure #1 they were legit and #2 had some use for you all. For every one DApp on this list I tested another 5-6 DApps and decided they didn't make the cut. Please let me know if you have any other ETH DApps you enjoyed below, I'd love to try them out!
I personally used MetaMask for most of this testing. It's very accessible and is designed with DApp browsing in mind first, wallet second
What can you do with all that sweet DAI you're earning on Publish0x? Put it in PoolTogether that's what! What's PoolTogether? -
PoolTogether is an...application that makes saving money as fun as a game. You join a pool by getting a “savings ticket”. Each Savings Ticket gives you a chance to win a prize, but even if you don’t win, you keep all your money!
PoolTogether get's it's prizes from the interest earned on the DAI pooled. Higher interest rates are given with a higher amount of DAI invested. Using PoolTogether allows there to be more prizes available for the average person. There are daily and weekly prizes through PoolTogether, as well as the chance to join a "pod". Pods increase your chances of winning a prize (think of it like buying several lottery tickets with your co-workers).
2. League of Kingdoms
League of Kingdoms is still in pre-sale so it's difficult to include it on this list here - but how the game is set to play out on the ETH blockchain and how sleek it looks in the pre-sale photos warrants a high spot. The Gameplay is very similar to that of Clash of Clans or King of Avalon - city building and army style PvP.
The exciting part of League of Kingdoms is their land feature. Land in the game is an NFT asset where the land owners in game will earn a portion of the game's profit. The first land pre-sale went down on 5-25, and the second land pre-sale happens sometime today. I would highly recommend checking this game out, I think it's got a bright future.
Kyber is an on-chain liquidity protocol that aggregates liquidity from a wide range of reserves. Yeah I didn't know what that meant either. What that means in simple terms and why I wanted to include Kyber on this list is that Kyber is a tool that allows anyone to swap tokens instantly without having to use an exchange. It empowers vendors to accept a multitude of different tokens while still getting paid in their Crypto of choice.
This is huge for wider range Blockchain adoption. Tools like Kyber allow altcoins to be used as a valid form of payment for vendors and encourages altcoin use cases to be more than just one or two things.
4. My Crypto Heroes
Ya Boy can't deny a good old school Japanese RPG and that's exactly how My Crypto Heroes (MCH) plays - complete with 8-bit style music. The heroes in this game are fun historical characters like Santa Claus and Ivan the Terrible. There's also a My Crypto Heroes app for Android. I personally enjoy playing the game on my desktop more as I can see all the boxes easier and navigate through the screens with more ease.
The earning aspect of this game comes into play through their market. As you collect quality Extensions (equipment for your heroes) or heroes you can sell them for the in game currency GUM which can then be traded on YoBit for ETH or BTC.
You can also get a free hero, Brothers Grimm, if you use a referral code - Mine's CD3n if you're interested in that
For the privacy conscious Tornado.Cash allows you to obscure your sending address when sending Ether. It also interacts with smart contracts, where you can deposit some ETH into a smart contract and Tornado.Cash will send the ETH to the desired recipient and obscure your original address.
With blockchain becoming more and more mainstream privacy will become more of an issue. I appreciate this DApp as it allows you to continue to use ETH and get some of the benefits of a privacy coin.
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I head fun putting in the research for it. If you liked this article you might like my previous one on a lesser-known TRX DApp - BullsVsBears.
