Next up in the series of Earnings From 1 Week is the Bling Suite of Apps. Since I did my last installment on Earnings From 1 Week of Bitcoin Aliens Apps I've seen Bling pop up in my recommended games on Google Play about 4,000 times in the last week. So I once again put my sanity on the line to see what the actual earnings are from these games so I can get them out of my recommended's. Here are my findings.
The Apps
Bitcoin Blast, Bitcoin Blocks and Solitaire. All of these games run off the same point system, max of 1,000 points per day per game which is about 100 Satoshi per game, per day. The #1 thing I noticed was from Day 1 - Day 7 the earnings from playing one game went down SUBSTANTIALLY. Day 1 it took just 1 level of a game to earn 100 points (10 Satoshi) by the end of the week I'd have to play 4 levels per game to earn that much.
Bitcoin Blast - Just like any Match-3 game, a pattern I started to see was whether you get 1 star or 3 stars per level. It didn't matter, the game was going to pay you what it wanted to pay you. With that in mind by the end of the week I just started quickly doing very poorly.
Bitcoin Blocks - A Match-2 game. It's funny, on their website they say "The more you play, the more you'll make" which is TECHNICALLY true. If you were to play these games everyday for a year you would technically make more than playing it for only 364 days. But the more I played the less I made per game.
Bitcoin Solitaire - If you like just plain old vanilla Solitaire, this is for you. If you like doing anything else with your time, not for you.
The Earnings
2,100 Satoshi = $0.15
So because I decided I wanted to hate myself right now I broke down my estimated hours played this last week by the earnings gained. It's a little under $0.01/hr. But at least I got to send my earnings to my Coinbase wallet and it came pretty quick which was nice.
The Conclusion
I stand by my previous conclusion. Most people will not get rich playing games on their phone unless you are on an E-Sports Team. But if you play these types of games anyway maybe you'd enjoy making a small amount of money for playing them. I don't know much about Bling, it seems like they're trying to go the Bitcoin Aliens route of making games and essentially sharing some of their ad revenue with their players. As far as a business goes I can appreciate how they're setup. It looks like, based on what I read from their website, they sell the rewards platform to other companies and take a cut of the profit that they make. Very smart and they seem to have a bigger picture in mind than just earning a quick buck from small games.
Now pivoting a little here. I had a conversation with a friend of mine the other day and we were talking about being a lender vs being a borrower. The principle of that conversation was, those who own the supply own their own future and those who are borrowing or using someone else's supply are slaves to the supply owner. I think a lot of these games and even Publish0x itself follow that same model. Whenever you use someone else's platform you automatically get a series of benefits, as well as a series of downsides. I think that is what's playing out here perfectly.
For everyone who came to this hoping these games would pay them riches I'm sorry not many games will. In order for riches to be made a service or value needs to be provided to someone. From what I've seen money is only made when something of value is provided. Now I'm not going to go too far down this rabbit trail so I'll end it here and maybe write a post about some of my thoughts on how to create long-term money online.
