We've probably seen headlines like: The Death of the Political Left or the Political Extreme Right. The terms Right and Left are often heard. But what does left and left politics really mean?

The terms Right or Left Wing were first used in 1789 in France, when: French Constitutive Assembly. At that time there was a debate between the two camps. There are factions who feel that the king's rights, such as veto and others, must be defended. However, there are also groups who feel that the king's power is too much and must be reduced.

Those who wish to reduce the king's power sit on the left and those who support the king's power sit on the right. This is done to facilitate cooperation between like-minded people.

As time went by, debate after debate continued. In the early 19th century, debate raged again between those who wanted Monarchism or the rule of the king to be preserved and those who wanted a Republic or a democratic system, where the power of the king was completely abolished.

During this conflict those who struggle for change and want to leave the old lifestyle always sit on the left and those who struggle to maintain existing social conditions sit on the right.

From this it can be interpreted that left-wing or left-wing politics is progressive politics or wants changes in society and politics. The right or the right is politically conservative or wants to maintain current social conditions.

However, Entering the 1930s, economic issues began to be raised into debates where the people were Socialists sit on the left and Capitalists sit on the right.

Socialism means that the government has the right to allocate resources and wealth. Meanwhile, capitalism is a system in which individuals have the right to own land and capital and can freely transact.
