I don't usually write about these things but I always thought about this for a bit. I don't know what is happening exactly in the conflict but this post has to do with power. I have not much experience in writing politics so it my bad if it's not well written.

absolute power corrupts absolutely. this is a quote I heard or saw somewhere about a long time ago and it makes sense so why is it when we don't have kings and queens anymore or lords etc we have people in power for so long.

I heard Putin is in power for more than 20 years, he rewrote the constitution so he could repeatedly run for office. I know this all too well because since I was born I only remember one person in power for more than 20 years. come on you got to know shady shit is happening, the country was never suffering massively or anything, no blatant abuse of power was exercised but I knew no one should ever be allowed to be in power too long of a country.

humans are inherently flawed, that's why we have laws and morals.

honestly, I never am interested in running a country right now, but if I happen to be in a position, I feel I would try to consolidate power too, we are human, we have egos, and are narcissists to some degree. I am human I seek my own advantage.

life in this century is very peaceful etc but it is not because we are somehow any better than people who came before us, its just that as human we understand that we are emotional and has shortcomings so we write laws to prevent us from doing things that are not in the best interest of the collective. I mean being able to rule a country is what people kings and queens did but in the world, there are countries where people are in power for decades and it never ends well. why is the west now taking actions against Russia now, why didn't they recognize this earlier and try to remove the ability for one person the be in power for 20 years. that's crazy.
