If you click the thread, you'll get the opportunity to read in Cat's own words how just how and why this art piece exists; as the title states, it's the only NFT which spans the gap between both chains. Two additional devs were hired, and weeks of work were spent, attempting to strategize and correctly implement at the exact neccessary timing to pull off this feat. As you can see in the picture, the minting spans from the last block of the PoW- 15537392, to the first block of PoS - 15537394. Cat mentioned how attempting to span both chains was a risky move, and carried the conequence of losing weeks of work and the ETH used to pay the devs who helped make the project possible- but what is crypto without the risk of losing it all???
Obviously, this art represents a bit of the concept of death and rebirth, which is deeply personal to Cat- and he was thrilled to be able to use the blockchain AS the canvas in a conceptual way. "This is the first step in Ethereum's journey in being a mature system…To me the merge symbolizes the difference between early stage Ethereum and the Ethereum we've always wanted."
Although this quote by Vitalik Buterin is regarding the technology of Ethereum, we can apply this to our own lives in our journey of pruning and self actualization.
