Rebecca Rose and Peter Kacherginsky who are Coinbase employees on March 14, 2021 got married using the Ethereum blockchain.
In addition to the traditional ceremony, the couple wanted to immortalize the wedding in a more personal way.
Peter issued tokenized NFT "rings" creating a 2,218 line long Ethereum smart contract called Tabaat.
In Hebrew, Tabaat means ring.
In a tweet, Rose said: “Most people get married in a religious site, on the beach or in the mountains. Peter and I are NOT the majority of people. We got married on #blockchain ".
Issuing tokenized NFT "rings" cost around $ 587 in transaction fees, and the ceremony itself consisted of two transactions: the transfer of the NFT "rings" from the contract to Rose and Peter, and its approval by the Ethereum Network (ETH) took 4 minutes and it entailed $ 50 mining fees.
"As part of the ceremony we exchanged #NFTs, much like rings, by sending them to each other from our #cryptocurrency wallets," wrote Rose.
