Digital artwork of Vitalik Buterin, a piece titled “EthBoy”, has sold for 260 ETH or roughly $141,000 on digital art marketplace Async Art on Nov 22.

  • Artists Trevor Jones and Alotta Money created the artwork using a special form of Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) wherein the artwork changes according to external data
  • The artwork will essentially reprogram itself according to price fluctuations, gas fees and development changes, among other things
  • EthBoy's owner will receive 33% of the profit of 10 future derivative NFTs related to the artwork over the next 5 years, according to official information
  • EthBoy was sold on marketplace Async Art and is one of many pieces to fetch a handsome price in 2020, joining the likes of a $200,000 Batman artwork, also created by Jones
  • It was purchased by MaxStealth (who also purchased the Batman artwork) after an auction period that lasted a day
  • NFTs have grown in popularity in 2020, both in the gaming and digital art niches; Async Art was also involved in a $131,000 sale of artwork of Satoshi Nakamoto
