Twitter CEO on Bitcoin: "No one person can stop it"

Twitter Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder Jack Dorsey was interviewed on Lex Fridman’s podcast on April 24, and the entrepreneur had plenty of good things to say about Bitcoin, calling it “one of the most seminal works of computer science in the last 20 or 30 years.” Dorsey's comments on this matter can be at the 17:38 minute mark.

Dorsey called the Bitcoin whitepaper “poetry”, a statement of praise that matches the praise that many others have given it. To him, the most salient feature is its decentralization,

I think the most beautiful thing about it, is there's no one person setting the direction, and there's no one person, on the other side, that can stop it…We have something that is pretty organic in nature, and very principled in its original design.

Dorsey’s support for Bitcoin is well known and has been documented extensively in the past. The founder and CEO of Square, the latter company is executing multiple initiatives related to cryptocurrency, which is quickly becoming a cornerstone of its business.

Dorsey was also interviewed on the Joe Rogan podcast last year, where he said that Bitcoin was the money of the internet and had a certain place in the future of money. The collaborative nature of Bitcoin, where everyone can participate in small or big ways, is hugely attractive - the idea of removing the influence and power of entities at the centre of services and distributing it among the masses is why many enter the market in first place.

Q4 2019 reports for Square’s Cash App saw Bitcoin be responsible for half of the company's revenue.
