Tether Issues 15 Million USDT on TRON

The Tether (UDST) has issued 15 Million USDT on the TRON (TRX) blockchain, according to tracking platform Whale Alert, which tweeted that this $15 million worth of the USDT stablecoin had been minted by the Tether Treasury. The transaction was made on April 27.

The minting of 15 million USDT follows a previous issuance of 120 million USDT, which occurred on April 13. Tether has seen its supply grow by 43% since the start of March 2020.

The issuance on TRON appears to be a part of a partnership with Tether. The two parties announced that they would be working together to “elevate [TRON’s] dApp ecosystem, increase DEX liquidity, and enhance accessibility for partners and institutional investors”,

Both Tether and TRON have been at the centre of controversies. TRON has particularly been in the news for its recent acquisition of the STEEM network - the Steemit platform’s community members have accused Justin Sun and TRON of attempting a hostile takeover, which resulted in the community hard forking from the STEEM blockchain.

However, not all of the news is bad for TRON, as the network’s DApps have now been made available on the Samsung Galaxy Store.

Meanwhile, the community-led hard fork has resulted in the creation of the HIVE network, which has already been listed on exchanges like Binance and Bittrex.
