Rowling was met with an exuberant onslaught of commentary from the crypto community which led her to be even more confused than before she asked.
Nearly everyone from the crypto community attempted to explain Bitcoin to the esteemed author but to no avail. She said that all the Bitcoin explanations sounded like confusing babble to her and admitted that she had consumed several strong alcoholic drinks.
Regardless of not understanding, Rowling thanked everyone amid all the chaos for trying:
“God bless every single one of you now earnestly explaining bitcoin to me as though I’ll grasp it if you break it down properly. Things like this are white noise to me. I cannot and will not ever understand Bitcoin, but I love you for thinking that I can or will."
As Rowling left the conversation, the CryptoTwitter banter continued. Fake JK Rowling accounts emerged and the joke continued on far longer than it should have…
The next day, Rowling said:
"Morning, all. People are calling each other simps in my mentions and a fake JK Rowling account has made a purchase of Bitcoin. How’s your Saturday shaping up?"
That’s right, CryptoTwitter wasn’t done with her just yet.
The Bitcoin explanations, the trolling, and the banter continued throughout the weekend and just when we thought it was all over, on Monday (May 18, 2020), J.K. Rowling came out and said this:
She later said, “This is also a joke.” But regardless, by making jokes and engaging with CryptoTwitter like this, it appears that the famous J.K Rowling has joined the CryptoTwitter community.
