Ferrari 12Cilindri

Replacing the 812 Superfast, it breaks with the past in terms of design, with modern, more sober lines, but with retro details. No compressor, no battery, no electric motor. Four years ago, Ferrari decided that the naturally aspirated V12 engine should not be retired. Today, the new F140HD engine is fitted in both coupé and spider versions, an unusually simultaneous launch.

Today the (still provisional) rules of Euro 7 do not scare manufacturers that much, but four years ago the anti-pollution legislation that replaced Euro 6 and its derivatives (now E) left many large internal combustion engines without a chance and forced many mechanical works of art into early retirement, including Ferrari's V12. In Maranello, however, the company had the courage to continue investing in this engine. It is probably the best mechanically and the most attractive engine in terms of intake and exhaust sound. To underline exactly what was under the hood, the successor to the 812 Superfast was called Ferrari 12Cilindri. The project could have been a financial disaster, but instead it would have been the launching pad for a new naturally aspirated V12 not paired with a battery or electric motor. The Ferrari 12Cilindri is not a hybrid platform, but a combination of mechanics and electronics, fused together to create emotions, despite weighing 1,560 kg (dry weight) in the coupé version and 1,620 kg (dry weight). kg (dry weight). Not bad for an overall length of 4,733 mm, a width of 2,176 mm and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. In fact, it's well below the weight of the various hybrid and electric grand tourers of the latest generation.
