With the monstrous popularity of Whatsapp and Telegram as a messaging app, it's not easy to find a replacement. And this for an obvious reason: if it were not used by anyone, it would not make sense to exist and would be in fact useless. However, it is possible to find really interesting alternatives, and this justifies the growing number of downloads in the stores, the reviews that are left and the countless discussions that arise online. Let's get to the point: in my opinion, a noteworthy software especially in terms of functionality is Discord.

Okay, okay: it wasn't born for this specific purpose. Discord was conceived primarily to put gamers in contact (a direct competitor of TeamSpeak in short) through a voice and text chat system that was well integrated with videogames, but with the passage of time and updates I think it is worthy of being mentioned among the top instant messaging apps. Why do I even take it to the comparison of Whatsapp and Telegram? Well, this application convinced me mainly for 3 reasons:
1)CANALI> GRUPPI
One of the pillars of Discord is certainly represented by the channel system (or server). We could consider them as "super-groups", if not precisely real servers in their own right: in fact it is possible to create multiple text / voice chats where you can chat / talk; organize the latter into categories (as you can see from the image, there is a category "sport" and "kitchen"); set up a real hierarchy among all the people present through the so-called roles, each of whom can have certain permissions and accesses in the channel.
Obviously there is also the possibility of creating more canonical groups (along the lines of those of Whatsapp and Telegram), with group video calls and the possibility of streaming your own screen (the latter unfortunately only available on PC).

2) NO PHONE NUMBER!
Being a purely online service, Discord does not require your telephone number to function or be identified; the only information necessary to enter the app will be an email, a username and a password. After registration, our username will be flanked with a pound sign and 4 digits (mine is # 9374), essential to be identified and to get in touch with other people. To search for another user and be able to chat with him, in fact, you only need to enter your username and the unique data just described, in the box shown below.

3) A BOT
Directly linked to the channel system, BOTs also play a vital role in the program's ecosystem. These are programs, created using the API of the same software house, displayed on Discord in the form of users and used for the most varied purposes. Precisely for this last reason, to date we have a really vast BOT marketplace and for every need, from the organization of surveys in chat to putting music in the background of a voice chat.
