Tomorrow Chromia enable staking! 09.11.2020!
Programs which use staking information can be deployed both on the Ethereum and Chromia blockchains. (In the current implementation, the Chromia blockchain requires a trusted centralized service to query the Ethereum blockchain, but this will be improved in future implementations.)

Once a user deposits his CHR into a staking contract, he can participate in various programs which require staking:
Governance experiments
We believe that the Chromia community should play a role in its governance, however, there are many challenges the a path to that goal:
- On the one hand, control can be seized by large token holders, such as exchanges.
- On the other hand, users might be disinterested in the governance process, or lack qualification to make a good decision.
We also anticipate that the Chromia community will grow once more dapps run on Chromia, and what might work in a bigger community might not work when the community is small.
